What do I do Next??? Help

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

What do I do Next??? Help

OK. So I've just done a runner from The Liberty Systems using a jump hole (mission 4). Now I'm at the Bretonia System. I've split up from that girl (Juni) she told me to do my own thing for a bit and would contact me later. There I was doing a side mission to kill some bad guys and I thinK that she was in one of the ships I killed. A message came up and told me she was died. Now I find myself going from system to system just doing side missions. What do I do to carry on with the main game missions?

explore...earn some money doing missions/trading...Juni will be back in touch with you soon...don't worry you've not killed her.

each mission takes you to new systems to help you explore and get a feel for the different cultures....you are left alone inbetween missions to explore further and make money to improve your ship/weapons. juni always has "something to do" or "someone to see". my advice to you is to keep upgrading your ship because each mission gets harder and you'll need all of the firepower you can get your hands on.

damn. just reread what you said...there was a message saying Juni has died? scrub what I said earlier - sorry - I haven't got a clue in that case. Start again I suppose.

Well thats what I think the message said. It only came up for a few seconds and I couldn't really give it a good read as I has two bad guys on my ass. Maybe it just looked like her name, but it sure sounded like her. I'll try carry on like you said. I'll get there one day.

Cheers

Who are you and why are you reading my quote?

It is virtually impossible for Juni to get killed outside a story mission; even inside story missions it is very unlikely that she gets killed because her ship is indestructible most of the time (probably the result of Microsoft QA). Good thing too, for when I destroyed the two killable cruisers near Benford in mission 4 I tried to hasten the process by dropping homing mines at my prey and it took half a dozen mines or more for me to notice that Juni was nearer to my ship than the cruiser I was working on, and that all the mines were hitting her ship.

There are only two occasions where a dialog pops up during a random mission that I can think of. First, some bystanders scan your cargo hold and express desire for the contents. Not very likely, but not impossible either. Second, you had a 'capture' mission but your prey was destroyed by gun fire or environmental hazards (mines, radiation) before you tractored their escape pod; similar things could happen on a 'tractor stuff' mission.

Have you visited Tobias at the equipment dealership in Leeds before venturing out after mission 4? What is your current level and net worth, and what is the entry for 'Next Level Requirement'?

If you have met the conditions for the next story mission then usually the path to where Juni awaits you gets highlighted on the nav map, whenever there are no waypoints that you have set manually or that are the result of booking a random mission. However, it seems that the automatic 'path to Juni' feature does not always have infinite patience - in very rare cases it can give you up for hopeless if you ignore it for hours and days on end.

That annoys me, it really does...For one, that they would NOT give the NPC ships enough armor so that they wouldn't NEED to be invulnerable, for two, that they thought the player that incapable of a mere escort assignment. There is precisely ONE mission-critical ship that will ever die on you, and that's Beta 4 in mission 1.

Hell, they were even so kind as to sell me a ship after one of my jobs with them, and I've been flying her ever since. But god help them if someone puts a bounty on THEIR heads, for I don't care who I hunt for, as long as their live capture(or untimely death) can get me enough credits to buy a decent sized mug of my favorite drink."- A Freelance Bounty Hunter.

Juni dying during a random mission just doesn't make any sense. She wouldn't be flying around in it, so I don't see how you could've killed her. If you were very close to a mission requirement, perhaps you tractored in some loot or something that put you over the mark and she was contacting you for your next mission?

I've been to almost ever system now & have talked to everyone, But nothing. I don't want to start again. I've done all the mission's to the latter. This is getting on be T*T's now

OK. So I started again. now i'm trying to finish mission 1. I've got to the bad guys base, but there are two fighters that will NOT die. I've spent over 2 hours on just this mission and nothing. WHY WILL THEY NOT DIE!!!!! AAAAAAAHHHhhhhhhhh!!!

Is there a update or fix for this?

juni walker king ARE indestructable except at any time designated in the storyline for any/all or none of them to die(dont want to say too much)
your other wingmen are not indestructable but the main chars are
believe me
i must admit there have been times i wanted to shoot juni but never did

As a rule, Characters with two out of these three characteristics: first names, titles, or a command position, do not die until the storyline calls for them to do so.

I'm talking about two rogues. All the people on my side are fine. It's just two rogues that came out of the rogue base just before it got torpedoed. So there's me and all the other trying to kill that last two ship's before the mission is finished.

OmegaKnight, there must be something very wrong with your system - I've never heard about a problem like this in all the time that I've been haunting this board. Also, I have flown this mission quite a number of times both in the Starflier and in the Rhino (best time 15:45 @ Criminal Base Destroyed, with Starflier/Lavablades - in case T-Hawk is listening in ) on several different computers, and I have tried quite a couple of stunts.

I think the most promising avenues are these two:

(1) Make sure that you are running a completely unmodded game (reinstall if necessary). After very extensive testing ( ) I can vouch for T-Hawk's mod being safe to use during the campaign but I do not know about other mods. Always use FLMM to manage your mods so that you can back out without reinstalling.

(2) Check the Tech Problems forum for posts regarding sound codec problems, then check your system to make sure that you are not thus afflicted. It is conceivable that the Rogues are set to be indestructible during the 'base blows up' cutscene and that the game is missing the trigger event to make them mortal again because some sound file or other failed to play. But I think this possibility is rather remote.

Cheers for the help Sherlog. It's very odd. I've not added any mod's. I'll check the Tech Problem forum.
