Stuid SP levels, Do I have a Glitch?

I have over $1,500,000 handy and a net worth of over $2 Mil, yet I am still stuck at level 24! I just want my eagle. I fought my way to Freeport 9 (it is nine isnt it?) with BOTH corsairs and Hessians hating me and was rather rudely told that I needed to be a more experienced pilot, level 26 to be exact. I can't even get missions in the borderworlds because i am too low a level. It still says that my next level requirement is 'Mission'. What the @#%!? Anyway, I was trying to find a place with level 24 and 25 difficulty missions, in case I have to 'prove' myself to advance. And yes I did finish the campaign. Can anyone shed light on my dilemma?

Yes, ufortunatley that particular glitch affects most people. Its the biggest pile of crap in the game (Of course there are only really TWO crap points) but I think the solution is either keep getting jobs till it goes away OR keep earning money. Not sure, or the one I couldve heard or Ive made it up for some weired reason, is keep quitting and loading Autosave. Not sure which, but some one else is likely to tell you..

It maybe a glitch and I thought it was at first, too. I checked my net worth/lvl,etc and it would say mission(after the story line missions are done) ok do another mission complete it no lvl up, continue on to my next trade route stop,buy/ sell for my next leg of route. Check my stats-mission needed. Any how I finally got the lvl up-no doubt there is a balance between # of missions completed/kills/net worth to this point after that it's all about the credits needed and the flip/flop threw me a bit until I figured out that was amount needed for next lvl up. Basically, just keep playing and doing your thing.

Net worth over $2,000,000 corresponds to at least level 36, so it seems likely that the 'stuck level bug' has struck again. If I may venture a guess I'd say the hapless victim has installed the server patch, because so far no people without this patch are on record for having been thus afflicted. The incidents without the patch were all benign and the symptoms went away quickly on their own.

Anyway, all the answers to all the questions about leveling up are in the link I posted above. I'm pretty sure of that.

I haven't installed the patch (at least I think so, it says that the version is 1.0 on the startup screen) so chalk one up for unpatched Freelancer. Just my luck. Typical.

A bit of copy/paste

:

1 Buy a hold full of expensive cargo and then sell it again at the same place. This makes your worth drop, thus "resetting" the leveling up system. Works most of the time.
2. Do a mission, that seems to work sometimes.
