Alaska. What is there?

I am up to mission 10 in the story. And I have seen Alaska on the Nav map on this site. I have also a completed save game with infinite shields mod, so I went through the mine field to see what was there. The Alaska Jump gate was dissabled and all information on Alaska in the Nav map is classified.
What do you do there?

On one of the missions, you will fly into the Alaska system. When that mission comes up, the gate will be unlocked so you can use it. There's not much in the system, just a prison and a minefield or two.

Not quite nothing actually. Theres a shipyard you cant dock at and a a prison that you can, but the screen is all black if you do (unless its in the story).

you can get mods that unlock all the hidden systems.... cos theres no way to get to alaska other than during that mission.... the mines magically dissapear and let u get to the jump hole thing

For all you noobs, you can get to the Alaska Jump gate after the camapign, but it will be lock so you will need a mod to fix that. Fly along the edge to Zone-21 until you see a massive hole in the mine field, the gate should be directly infront of you.

As for Alaska itself, there is a shipyard (non dockable), a Prison, couple of mine fields and alot of nav bouys.
