Nomads - help!

Ok I've avoided posting on this forum because I wanted to learn about the game on my own, but now I'm totally stuck, so I need your help guys...

I'm level 38 and flying a Titan, I've only just discovered one of the unknown jump holes (yeah yeah yeah I know...I don't get to play much ok!)....anyway...every time I approach it, or even get through it (rarity) I get attacked by nomads.

The problem I'm having is that I simply can't get a shot off before the b@st@rds tear my ship apart. I'd class myself as a pretty good pilot - ok I'm no jedi, but I'm pretty good - so I'm presuming that its a shield thing.

Could someone please recommend the best shield for coming up against Nomads? Preferably it needs to be pretty Bounty Hunter proof as well (they currently hate me and are swarming around that jump hole)

Any other tips for fighting nomads? I had no problem in the SP campaign, I don't get why they're tearing me up now! No flames please, I've done an indepth search on here and I can't find anything....

1. shield lvl 10 posi
2. As to killing them, Use fast fire rate weapons. So if you have any lvl 10 coded mounted disabled them. I just use 2 Skyblasts they kill them quickly enough and don't affect shield regen.

But best place to get nomand weapons if above Planet Primus. I sit behind the square section of the docking ring and wait until there close, as they cant hit you there. Then wait until they split up and come out fighting in engine kill and can usually kill 2 before they get a hit in.

Also No radiation and repairs avaliable if necessary there.

you dont say which hole so i wont spoil that one for you
2 important things to remember obout nomads
they dont have cruise disruptors so you can run
they dont have shields so shield killing weps are useless
apart from that they arent much more complex to kill
fill up on batts and botts before you go
take them out 1 at a time is the best way as they come in groups of 4 and 4 nearly dead ships still hit you harder than 1 fully healthy one
good luck

Hello Gromit !
I used the best possible shield (level 10 Positron), for heavy hull damage the
diamond artefact-weapons and the highest possible plasma weapons and despite of the fact the nomads don´t have shields two Tizona del Cid´s. As soon as the nomads drop Blasters and Cannons I leave the battlfield and mount them on the next base. After having mounted the blasters and the cannons chasing nomads is pretty easy.

Hi guys thanks for all of your answers! Most helpful!

I'm gonna try out all of your solutions tonight...it was beginning to do my head in getting blown up with a single shot, and I had class 8 shields as well! I think I've got the class 10 posi hanging around in my cargo bay somewhere so I'll give that a go instead.

@steel thanks for not spoiling the other jumphole for me, I'm at the one in the same system as crete currently.

Appreciate all of your help.

Try flying an Eagle, too. Easier to dodge the fire from the nomads that way and it can mount the same shield. But keep your level 8 graviton, it's sometimes better than a lvl 10 positron, and you can't get it back without buying a Titan again.

Use engine kill (the Z key), afterburn right at, and then past them. Find the closest one (R key) and turn towrd it. You should be coasting backward at about -180 or so. LIGHTLY tap your afterburner so that it comes into range and blast it.

If it gets too close and/or it's buddies come into range, repeat from the beginning.
