What level to get nomad guns to drop?

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

What level to get nomad guns to drop?

Ok ... I'm out farming the nomads by their jump hole in order to get their guns.

Nothing drops. Not even a nanobot (which makes sense, btw, but still ...).

Is it a matter of needing a higher level? BTW, I used the search engine on this site and got lots of interesting info, just no answer to that question.

Saddest thing is that the Red Hessians and the Blood Dragons have a connection, and there is no reputation bribe available for Blood Dragons. Eventually that bond is going to go downhill unless you get to their base and fly some missions for them.

You can get about one weapon to drop from each group of 4 nomads at level 34.
Some say level 32, but some say not.
I'd wait until level 34 so you don't waste a trip.

Minimum I've heard of them dropping is 30 in a loaded VHF, but higher the Better. But when you do go get them have fast firing weapons eg 2 Skyblasts is enough, that way you don't loose energy from your weapons for the regen of your shields when fighting them.

But if your lucky find a high level player thats willing to help you. They kill them and you collect. I do that on the server I admin on.

I have gotten Nomad blasters to drop on Elite at lvl 30.

you need to be l32 to get them to drop if you arent with a higher level player
and now since the 1.1 patch its up to level 34
the guns dont drop as well at these levels compared with a couple of levels higher
killing the nomads quickly also seems to increase the drop rate
most people reckon about 1 in 8 is a good guide though ive always felt its closer to about 1 in 4

I started chasing nomads when I am at level 32. The droprate was not very good.
It was much better in higher levels.

They drop based on net worth, not level. You could be level 38 with $500,000 and not see so much as one drop, or you could be level 30 with $4,000,000 and get a drop every other kill.

Hell, they were even so kind as to sell me a ship after one of my jobs with them, and I've been flying her ever since. But god help them if someone puts a bounty on THEIR heads, for I don't care who I hunt for, as long as their live capture(or untimely death) can get me enough credits to buy a decent sized mug of my favorite drink."- A Freelance Bounty Hunter.

I know how to get a high level without a good net worth, but how can you have a high net worth without the equivilent level? Other than be in the middle of the sp plot?

I thought the game engine leveled you up based on net worth?

Anyway, that means back to making money. Glad the bounty hunters are so easy to tag.

dire your 100% correct you have a level based on your worth
high net worth = high level
if you lose money you lose levels
gain cash you gain the two are interlinked apart from the storyline

In my experience, nothing drops untill level 36. However it might be different in the outcast unknown system. I always use the jump hole in the corsair system.

you don't lose levels if you lose money- that only happens in multiplay. In SP, once you have a level, you never go back down, even if you end up with only your ship to your name. You CAN be flat broke and still be at level 38.

Was flying around the jump hole tring to sort through those outcast fighters for loot. Started at lvl 37, shot a few nomads (12) got one cannon, jumped to 38 after picking up cerebus weapons, killed another 16 nomads (all 4 at a time) and didn't drop another weapon at all..... I reckon it's just the luck of the draw (or could it be the more powerful the weapons, the more destructive the kill and they drop nothing cause they destroyed it .... ah what the hell do I know I'm just having fun now with weapons, torturing those who blew me away when I was once weak............................)

If you throw enough mud ..some's gonna stick.

Regardless of your level or assets, have $1 mil cash handy. They drop fairly regularly for me at that amount.

Post Fri Sep 05, 2003 4:50 am

Well, I've gathered the million in cash and am ready to return and kill some nomads and see what happens.

Interesting factoid, they don't have cruise missles ... so if you are on cruise they don't catch up with you and they don't knock you out of it. I may yet visit the planet of the apes.

Not to mention the graphics on the unknown system are neat -- though the system map, which kicks every other system up as i visit it, has failed to save that one.

Too bad.

How and where do you access the nomad systems and are they only available in multiplayer? --- RR16
