legitimate rep change without bribes

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

legitimate rep change without bribes

I don't like bribing organisations, especially criminals/pirates. It is costly and wrecks your rep with other factions. The biggest problem with bribes, however, is that the rep change you get is completely OTT. For instance, I was hostile to the corsairs and wanted a certain (ahem) shield from them. I didn't want to bribe them as this would have cost me 150K, I barely had enough for the shield as it was. So I found mutual enemies to destroy. I hung a round the sigma-13 jump hole in the new berlin system and tore a bunch of red hessians to shreds. It took a while and a lot of dead hessians, but slowly the corsairs became neutral to me. I could then buy the shield. Wsnt that a lovely story?

Now, my problem is that the red hessians were the only organisation that made any difference to my rep with the corsairs. I now want to explore outcast systems, but cannot find any mutual enemies that make much difference to my outcast rep when i destroy them. I amgenrally on good terms with police, millitary, corporations etc, and on bad terms with criminals. Who should I kill to make the outcasts like me and where can i find my targets?

click F8 then in that window click the Faction name to see who there alies/enemies are. Attacking some work better than others, usually Police/Navy and some of the bigger House Shippers/Merchants

ost people generally destroy bounty hunters. This does lead to a degredation of you rep wth the cops, but you should be able tokeep a balance between the reps.

Ok, the faction lists do not tell the whole story. Basically, the key to the Outcasts is killing Xenos. Killing xenos will make Synth Foods and the Zoners hostile to you (eventually). If you just read the rep list, etc., you would think that killing Red Hessions and/or Unioneers would be the key to both the Corsairs and the Outcasts, but it doesn't work for both.

On the other hand, lots of people hat the Xenos, so your rep will edge up all over, and they have a base in Colorado, so it is even easy.

Go to Hudson if you want a challenge of sorts.

BTW, I wish someone would list where the monkey planet is (Is it the Outcast jump or the Corsair jump) since the way to class 10 shields and nomad guns by rep gunning either involves killing Red Hessions, which makes the Blood Dragons hostile (ok, sentiment there) (LWB and Unioners don't count) and Zoners have no enemies that killing will make them happy. If you care about the Zoners.

Wait...what has that got to do with the monkey planet

Use Haenlomals checks and balances list ... hit the ones labeled antipathy with the factions you want to be good with. Your rep with the faction you hit doesn't die totally and you can move to neutral with the faction you want a better rep with. EG. I just hit the GMG, a few freighters and probably 25 hawks, i'm on the red side of neutral with GMG but they don't attack me, but have been able to go to OM beta without 15 outcast Sabres blowing me out of the sky - even let me dock and purchase you know what.

If you throw enough mud ..some's gonna stick.

There is areally good trick you can do in multiplayer, if you are lets say totally in the red with the corsairs, but you friend is just neutral, join in a team (using invite) then get him to go do a mission for the corsairs, you will both be selected for the mission... let him go do the mission and then you rep will be made better with the corsairs one it's finished, just watch your player status though as too many missions for one group of people will screw you with others

I was looking at the relations in an ini file and the Bounty Hunters are -0.3 to the cops, so killing them will make the cops like you more!

Further update to the GMG shoot that improved my rep enough with the outcasts ... it put me on the red side of neutral with the corsairs too, two for the price of one. Who knew a bunch of miners would be so influential.....

between liberal applications of bribery and selective applications of spraying photonic death at particular enemies, I've gotten down to just one enemy, the Golden Chrysanthymums, for some weird reason....

Yes, absolutely everything I post, including this, is spam.

Monkey planet is through the Corsair Unknown jump hole, for what it's worth. Yes, GMG make great Outcast/Corsair rep targets The Bounty Hunters are technically criminals, so perhaps that explains why the police don't exactly mind 'em getting blown away.

If you want a better rep with the corsairs kill outcasts or visa vera. Be careful though since it is possible to end up wil both groups hostile, in wich case I would stay away from non-house systems entirely.

you know, the class 10 shield is also sold by the outcasts.

I remember that there's a file on this site that shows how much do each faction hate or like each other. I have the file, but i'm not sure if the thread or file exists. Either way, killing Liberty Navy makes the Outcasts like you and killing Bretonian Police or Armed Forces will make the Corsairs like you.
