Personally, I preferred the Alien organisms from Glasgow to Cambridge ($600 profit per unit, minus minor losses during the trip), diamonds from Cambridge to Leeds ($396 prifit per unit), and then a short trip from Leeds back to Glasgow (I take consumer goods there... only $23 profit per unit, but I might as well take somehting as long as I'm going over there...)

This totals up to $1,019 profit per unit of space you have for every cycle of the trip. In a Drone, which has 175 units of cargo space, that's $178,325 profit per trip (minus about $10,000 if you took long enough to lose 5 alien organisms on that leg of the cycle). I like it because there's not a heck of a lot of resistance, it is at most a 17 waypoint jaunt (Glasgow to Cambridge), and it doesn't take much time per trip.

I'm not sure, but I stick to my trusted New Berlin - New Tokio - The Ring Diamond - Niobium trade route, it's simple, quick, easy and higly profitable.
And you don't have to be good with criminals too

I've finished creating an Excel spreadsheet that details ALL profitable trades in the Sirius sector.
That's 26,624 ways to make a buck

I've uploaded it as AngleWyrm's Freelancer Trading Spreadsheet.zip (1.25 Meg)
You can easily sort it by, say, Starting System, Destination System,
Distance, Originating Base, or Destination Base.

It's huge for a spreadsheet--almost 7 Meg unzipped.

It's a nice tool, but doesn't display the most profitable traderoute, just the most profitable run from system A to system B, or the most profitable run when you want to trade commodity X.

It's online only though.

The most profitable route (for minimum number of jumps)I have come across is from Planet New London (New London) to Cadiz Corsair base(Omega 5). Not exactly sure about the per unit profit... but I know using a Humpback I can make a little over $500,000 credits every trip there and back. Here are the details

Start on New London and buy Light Firearms...go to Cambridge and catch jumphole to Omega 5 (Watch out for Red Hessians!!!). Sell firearms (profit about $200,000) and buy Alien Artifacts.

Return to Planet New London via Omega 5 jumphole to Cambridge. Sell Airtifacts for and make about $300,000.

Your smuggling these into New London so USE your afterburner in between jump gates and trade lanes.... dont hang around. I have been scanned several times by Bretonia Police/Navy... key is DO NOT click cancel when given the option screen to "drop your cargo". this buys you several seconds to hit the trade lane Outta there!

Total Profit for round trip: Around $500,000 credits.
Total system jumps: 4 (for round trip...2 each way)

Omega-5, ouch. ^_^; I always have trouble with the mines in that system--I find it impossible to reach Cardiz without setting off a few and thus eating up lots of shield batteries.

Which brings up a good point: Round-trips are different from one-way trips.

Also, I've been thinking about what is a valuable route.
A lot of folks seem to like the Diamond run to New Tokyo, but it's a LOOOooong one.
Is it really worth the trip? If I make more money/hour of gaming on a short trip...
So I came up with the following calculation:
Net profit / (2*jumps)
I've included this figure, calculated for a Humpback freighter, as Hump$,
which estimates the approximate net profit per system jump.
Bear in mind that some systems take less time to traverse,
and there are various risks involved in each system, so this is only a guide.

Yes, absolutely everything I post, including this, is spam.

i've tested many routes

and the roppongi-->ainu route
together with the diamond route
new tokyo-->ring and berlin-->new tokyo (for those who don't know)

give about the same amount of $$
I've tested these 2 routes by using GOTO and DOCK only
I didn't use the mouse for flying at all (only the first part from the jg to ainu depot when there's a bug in FL)

The diamondroute gives just a lil bit more cash in time but is too famous which means many pirates. Especially since sigma-13 is the closest place to the omicron areas (where fighters usually show off)

roppongi-->ainu is for the pros =P

For me the most complex route is destroy a transport (after inspeting it) and sell the "whatever" for a good price



i find the trading more boring than combat*

but what happens to your rep then?

My favorite route is go to tau 37 (through Kyushu to Tau 23 jumphole), mine for niobium, then go to leipzig station in dresden and sell, make $400K (in a humpack) then go to Bautzen Station to buy diamonds and go to planet new tokyo and sell them there, make $330K profit. So a total profit of $730K.
