Just finished the game ...but what really happened?
If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Hi:
Yes it is,
Yes it would.
Unfortunately, this is all the storyline you get.
Go fly around space and admire the scenery or discover something, there's a lot out there just waiting to be discovered; Diferent (great) ships, easter eggs (very colourfull indeed ) guns, hidden wrecks, hidden systems, hidden bases, you name it FL has it.
One tip though: To really have fun, stay out of the spoilerforums before you've found everything, it's so much more fun to discover everything by your self.
Have fun.

<So Britain, Australia and France didn't get a chance??>
Actually Britain did, Britonia it was Italy that didnt (along with Australia and France). At the beggining of Starlancer it mentions that the French and Italian fleets were oblitorated, so thats why there not in Freelancer.
Never heared anything bout Australia on Starlancer tho?
Thank you baked Potatoe

OK, here is what happened.
When you first land on Toledo, Quintain explains to you that the artifact is the key to open the Don Kovage HyperGate Network, witch consist of around 6 gates linking far points of space. That is why there is only one in sirius. The problem is that to activate the gate, you need to "activate" the artifact at the exact correct moment. Then Toledo gets attacked.
When you land back, Quintain gives you the artifact, witch is monted on a kind of weapon. (That weapon is a laser witch is powered by the nomad power cell, i think). Then you fight your way inside the Dyson Sphere, kill 2 sheild generators.
Now, the artifact, witch is activating by itself (but still sticked to the weapon), creates that blue effect, because its producing some energy. When Trents fires the weapon, it goes in that beam under the nomad city and activates the hypergate. Nomads & HyperGates are like a magnet and metal. So they are all sucked in and they are gone.
Then the Order says they will keep a close eye to that gate in case other nomads comes in.
Then you lend on Manhattan, receive the lone star, and orilion tells you to be the eyes and the ears of the order in Liberty. END OF SP.
