what does power ratings mean?? ie 3/5

im looking through the pilotable ships section on this site and it shows power rating of something like a fraction (8/10, 5/6, etc..) how do i read this??

also, checking out the stats for my ship, i see "optimal weapon class" and "max weapon class". max weapon class i guess means the max weapon class you could have on your ship, but what does optimal mean?

and how come in the game it does not show the power ratings

In a rating like '3/5' the 3 is the so-called optimum weapon class for your ship and the 5 is the maximum weapon class. The latter is the highest class of weapons that can be equipped on your ship, though not necessarily on all hardpoints - some slots may have a lower rating.

The 'optimum weapon class' is probably supposed to be a crude measure of the strength of your powerplant but this can be pretty misleading, especially as some weapons do not drain power at all and even among the different energy weapons the efficiency varies by a factor of more than 2 : 1.

the optimal weapon class means that this is is the reccomended wepons level
then there are your instances when certain ships cheat these propties like juni's denfender she probably has that kind of ship cause she a commander of the lsf or something.
