MP trade routes profit analysis

Did some testing tonight, these are the results for the more famous routes. Route times include time spent planet-side (ie buying & selling stuff, repair, etc), trade lane interruption & pirate evasion (I always run in a freighter), and gate queues. All times rounded up to the nearest minute.

Trip time: 15 minutes
Profit: 6008 credits/unit-cargo/hour

Very useful indeed, nice work CW. On the Ruiz -> Cambridge -> Leeds run you could drop the Light Arms off at Malta for quite a few more credits, althought I'm not sure what you could run from Malta over to Ruiz. Perhaps Food Rations or Oxygen, the only two I can think of off the top of my head.

Thanks for the suggestion magicks, I incorprated it into the route.

Oh and feel free to post your own results too! But please keep the unit consistence (credits/unit-cargo/hour) for easy comparison.

About these runs:
Ainu-->manhattan
and
Ainu-->Roppongi

I checked those routes myself and roppongi --> ainu seems to be more profitable, but here its the oposite.
In my calculations, The manhattan run gives me 1.03$ per second per cargounit
The roppongi run gives 2.27$ per second per cagounit so I get 8k per unit per hour O.o

I must be wrong somewhere, or u

Did you calculate your profit based on round-trips or just one way?

I believe Yanagi Depot (buy cardamine)->New Berlin (Buy engine components) -> Yanagi Depot is about 1.5 times the profit per hour compared to the Ainu run. I'll check it when I get the chance, but it is roughly 1/3 the distance for 1/2 the profit. I'd like to see the exact stats of the route in profit/hour.

Not a GREAT run, but I was headed that way anyway.

Gate lane parts 560 credits at Roppongi, sell at Chugoko Gate Construction site for exactly double, 1120 credits. Takes about 10 minutes and is only a slight detour if you're already heading North.

If you throw enough mud ..some's gonna stick.

Post Wed Aug 13, 2003 11:24 pm

Ok, here it is:

Yanagi Depot (Buy Cardamine) --> New Berlin (Buy Engine Components) --> Yanagi Depot

Total round trip time: 13 min

Cardamine profit: 1349 - 510 = 839
Engine Component profit: 524 - 225 = 299
Total profit for round trip: 1138 credits

Profit/cargo-unit/hour calculation:
5252.3 credits/cargo hold/hour
incidently, the route is short such that rounding up to the nearest minute changed the profit calc from 5528.7 (for exact time spent on route to the second)
I think we have a winner.

Gung_Ho, Is that route through Frankfurt to Sigma 13 to Yanagi Depot OR Sigma 13 Jump hole in N. Berlin to Yanagi Depot?

Where is Ainu Depot?

The profit analysis posted is for the two-jump route available in unmodded multiplayer; travelling from sig13, to frankfurt, to new berlin, and back the same way. In singleplayer, it should be almost twice as profitable using the single jump to berlin.

My calculations for a full round trip:
Planet Manhattan, New York(luxury consumer goods) Ainu Base, Hokkaido(cardamine) 2280 2280 38mins 0,98744045 60 3600
3600$ per hour for 1 unit
2 attacks during the traderun

Roppongi Station, New Tokyo(Luxury Consumer Goods) Ainu Base, Hokkaido(cardamine) 961 961 13mins 1,259501966 73,92307692 4435
4435 per hour per unit.
1 attack during the traderun

Forget the 8k =P

I only use GOTO and DOCK when i get within 10k range so manual docking or wrong docking or weird things don't screw up the timing.
I'm neutral to everything which is quite easy. By attacks I mean hacked lanes. I afterburn towards the next lane and wait untill it recovers. This screws the timing a bit but its hard to do it without these attacks. Luck is not my friend..

btw, yes I did a round trip

I'm off to try again without hacked lanes

My Calculations concur with yours. I made the roppongi run in 11 minutes though, and it yeilded 5242 credits/cargo unit/hour. It was a perfect run with no interupptions. Taken down to the second (instead of the minute) and assuming no interruptions, it seems only slightly less profitable than the yanagi->new berlin run, but on the other hand, it's far easier to be neutral with all parties in this sector of space.

I do trips from the hessian omega 5 stations with diamonds, to leeds and then come back with weapons. I make about 1000 on the diamonds, and 700 on the light arms, and it only requires 2 jumps (either way, on the way back from leeds to omega 5, make sure you have memorized where the jump hole is cus it will not appear on the map and can't be seen from less then 500m away). I makes a pile of money and doesn't take long.

Ainu-Roppongi IS the best run in the game as far as pure profit for the time involved. I had been running Ainu-Manhattan for a while and got lazy and started doing this and found I made money quicker. Now, I haven't gone and done all the math, but I can say that the two Ainu runs are the best and second best. The third is the Planet New Berlin-Yanagi run. After that, who cares. You aren't going to run anything else after doing that for a while anyway.

Here is a LONG run that I haven't done the math on, but maybe someone would like to try it. It pays huge money.

Manhattan-Planet Baden Baden (Stuttgart): Luxury Consumer Goods: (180-1260)
Freiburg Station (Stuttgart)-Planet New Tokyo: Diamonds: (308-1650)
Planet New Tokyo-Planet Cambridge: Engine Components: (225-1275)
Planet Cambridge-Manhattan: Luxury Food: (160-1200)(perishable)

When you are done you have WELL over a million credits, and you have mapped out most of Sirius. LOL
