Lane Hackers after Mission 4

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Lane Hackers after Mission 4

Why is it that after mission 4, if I go back into the Magellan system through the Leeds->Magellan jump hole, Lane hacker ships there are hostile, and Mactan Base wont let me dock because it turns hostile when I approach?

My reputation is slightly above neutral with the Lane Hackers..........

Lane Hackers always hang around Outcasts, you're probably hostile with them. As soon as they start shooting, the Lane Hackers turn hostile.

same happened to me when i tried to go back and get the Dromedary.

If you wait until just after you reach Kusari(mission 7), you can actually go right back and pick it up no problem, since both outcasts and hackers will be neutral by then. It's a little bit of a wait, but much easier if you don't feel like bribing(or shooting) half of Sirius.

In this special case - neutral base turns hostile because hostile allies are present - you could exploit the 'mission neutrality' bug that turns hostile passersby neutral while you are in a mission. Book a mission on Freeport 4 (IMG), preferrably against Outcasts in The Barrier. Then go fetch your Drom from Mactan and do as you please.

Note: the bug affects only ships, not bases. And if you get near a hostile base then the temporarily-neutralized enemies will turn hostile again if they are allies (or owners) of the base.

When I go through the jumphole, there are lots of hostile Outcasts and Lane Hackers, and it's very hard to avoid getting killed, since you can't start you cruise engines with the hackers on top of you and firing their wasps.

I tried loading the autosave after getting killed, and for some reason the same ships are neutral. But when I approach Mactan, it turns hostile when I get to within 3.5 kilcks.........!?

As spacedrive has said, the Lane Hackers will turn hostile when there are hostile Outcasts around (they are allies). It seems that the 'mission neutrality' bug does not work too reliably across different systems but that should be no problem if you can book a mission on Freeport 4. That will neutralize the Outcasts (during the mission and for some time after) and so the Lane Hackers and their base have no reason to turn hostile on you.
