Completing SP with hidden Wrecks

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Completing SP with hidden Wrecks

Hi all:
I was trying a couple new ways to raise my worth between missions and came up with a recipe for using the wrecks to get through... I've seen people talk about taking missions, trading, etc. , but haven't seen much mention of the wrecks. My favorite thing in the game. I've listed what ship I was flying at the end of the mission and how many credits I had (when I remembered to write it down ;-) Don't raz me about how little money I had, I didn't keep Cardamine/Artifacts in the hold long enough to get good prices for them.

Here Goes, your results may vary

After Mission 1, $2,000, StarFlier
Patrol 27 (3 Ships), New York, 6E, Justice MK III
You get 6 I think... I sold 4 and kept 2 for when I had the Legionnaire

After Mission 2, ?, StarFlier
Agressor, New York, 6D, Gunslinger MKI
Flint, New York, 6C, Cardamine
I think you can level up with just the Cardamine, but I wanted to try out the Gunslingers

After Mission 3, ?, StarTracker
Balboa, California, 5C, Cardamine

After Mission 4, $57,000, StarTracker
San Vicente, Leeds, 6D, Dragoon Type 2
Lorenzo, Leeds, 2C, Cardamine/Drail
Again, I think you can level up without getting the San Vicente, but the Dragoon is my favorite gun.

After Mission 5, $61,400, Cavalier
Puno, New London, 3C, Cardamine/Pyros
Vanguard, New London, 5C, Gold
The Pyros Type II's came in very handy for the Nomads... they just seem to melt with those puppies shooting at them

Mission 6 Leads directly into Mission 7

After Mission 7, $49,300, Legionnaire
Shibuyo Maru, Shi***u, 6D, Cardamine
Kobe Maru, Shi***u, 5C, Artifacts
I dumped 5 Cardamine so I could squeeze in 5 more artifacts. Artifacts are more expensive on the nearest Planet (Junyo?)

After Mission 8, $75,400, Legionnaire
Kayo Cloud Battlefield (3 Ships), Hokkaido, 3C, Scrambler2, Disinfector
James Morell, Hokkaido, 4F, Trade Lane Parts
Fugako, Honshu, 3C, Tanto
After these three wrecks I was still $8,000 credits short, so I took a job from the Kyoto bar. I suppose you could go to Sigma 13 and get some of the wrecks there, but I didn't try it. (Chugoku -> Sigma 13 isn't active at this point in the story)

After Mission 9, you don't have to gain worth to get the next mission, you just go from one to the next until Mission 13.

Now I'm off to Brushal to strap on a Stilletto and get those Sigma 17 wrecks :-)

The shipwrecks are quite a bit out of the way - only three wrecks are close enough to the path of the campaign to be looted without wasting time: Balboa in California (after mission 3), Shoki in Kyushu (loot during mission 7 while going from Cali to Planet Kyushu) and the wreck near the New Berlin jumphole in Sigma-13 (loot during mission 10).

If you want to go through the campaign as a millionaire (good idea) then it is best to go on a looting spree in the Omegas and Sigma-13 after mission 5. At least these wrecks are worth more than peanuts ... And while you are there anyway you can pick up a class 5 graviton shield in Rheinland and a couple Borrocos from the Corsairs. The pause after mission 7 is a good time for cleaning out the codename/Paralyzer wrecks in the northern systems since you are near there and the Outcasts are non-hostile. I even got a Nomad gun drop when I went to fetch the Ripper mines in Omicron Alpha.

Some wrecks contain interesting equipment that you are not allowed to buy early in the campaign or not at all: one of the three rogue Defenders in California (Rowlett's Revenge), Balboa in California (Pyros Type 2, Pyros Turret Type 1), Avenger in Texas (Catapult launchers + ammo), Lorenzo in Leeds (Pyros Type 2), Lonestar in Bering (Adv. Tarantula) and some of the wrecks at the Unknown jumphole in Omicron Alpha (Ripper mine launchers + ammo).

In the thread Level 7 I have described how you can fly the campaign missions back-to-back without freelancing/trading/looting/pirating between missions, just by having the right cargo in your hold at the end of a mission. You can combine the info there with wreck looting to control the speed of progress (and your bankroll ) for maximum fun. Speaking of the latter, the thread Plan for a maximum-fun campaign may be worth a look too.

good stuff! I was so gassed that I was going through the storyline as quickly as I was... I'll have to try out those wrecks in alpha. That's big bucks at that stage of the game.
thanks

recks are indeed fun!

I made this as a 'Helper' to let you know if you're done with an area:

Wrecks by House/Region
-----------------------------
Border Worlds Systems: 25; None in Omega-3, Tau-29
Bretonia Systems: 8; None in Edinburgh, Manchester
Corsairs Systems: 1 + 16
Edge Worlds Systems: 6
Independent Systems: 8; None in Hudson
Kusari Systems: 10; None in Chugoku, New Tokyo
Liberty Systems: 10 (counting P27 as 3); None in Colorado
Outcasts Systems: 4 + 4
Rheinland Systems: 8; None in Frankfurt, Hamburg

This is for doing it the hard way, easy way is stickyed spoiler list.
REAL easy way is Lancerthing 1.07 on this web site!

From a old post of mine...

Won SP game @ LVL 26 as... a Junker.

Third time through I decided to fund myself (almost) exclusively with Wrecks.

Not the Class 9 & Class 10 wrecks, but just the local wrecks like Patrol 27.
No long distance scrounging. Also, no cargo-only wrecks like the Bradley.

No Bar Missions. No piracy, no attacking neutrals. No Commodity Trading either.
No buying commodities and must sell any combat looted commodities at the very
first base docked, regardless of price. Sold any Cardamine or Artifacts from
wrecks at nearest pirate or junker type base, no smuggling.

At the first point in SP when you can be a Freelancer, I ran to Detroit Munitions.
Docked & Undocked @ Detroit Munitions and killed Xenos until Rogues went neutral,
(where DO all those Xenos come from in one minute, anyway?) then left 'em alone.
Surprisingly, storyline missions against Rogues didn't effect my rep much.

Began life as a wreck diver. Don't think wreck diving is easy, it isn't.
Once you leave Liberty, you are constantly being jumped by enemies. Since you
always are going off into the 'woods', they're everywhere. Random hostiles
leave you alone in bar missions, and hauling freight is on the Trade Lanes.

Throughout the game, I never needed to buy weapons at all. I only bought-

Ships (Starflyer - Defender - Crusader - Cuda - Anubis)

Countermeasure droppers & ammo

Better Thrusters

Bats & Bots.

Lots of ships 'donated' drone mines to me, I never needed to buy any.
Used them this time instead of Torpedoes against stationary/big targets.

Ended the game rather quickly with well over half a mil, at level 26.

Since when is the renegade Defender carrying Rowlett's Revenge a "wreck"?

Oh, and Rowlett's is a very good weapon for trying to beat the campaign in a Rhino (still working on that when I have time, up to mission 7 now.) If only I could have 5 of 'em!

In a... Rhino? OMG! I'm trying it in my Mule, but a Rhino...

T-Hawk, that Defender is most certainly a wreck when you have prepared it for looting.
