You need a mod to get back into the SP-only systems such as Nomad homeworld, Nomad lair, Omicron Minor, Tohoku, and Alaska...there are several such mods on the TLR downloads page, most of which only take effect if you start a new game.

The Omicron Alpha unknown jumphole leads to an empty system, populated only by nomads. There's not much to see there.

The other unknown jumphole is in Omicron Gamma, Corsair space. It contains the two easter egg planets, and is also populated by Nomads.

Nope, their only purpose is to give you a place to mount your newly aquired nomad guns. And confuse newbies.

Why not? You have to dodge only one wing of Nomads to get there.

I remember a server where this was used as a newbie filter, though. There you start with 1 million credits, a Zoner reputation and the usual Starflier (including 3 nanos/batts) on Planet Gammu .

The first time I died because I thought I'd pick up a couple of Salamancas on the Omicron Gamma side but I did not account for the radiation that burns a Starflier pretty quickly. The second time I hoofed it out of the radiation zone pronto ...
