Mission 6 (Dublin Race)

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Mission 6 (Dublin Race)

Has anybody had problems with their cruise engines cutting out on this mission.
i've been playing this mission for three weeks and cant get anywhere close to winning the race as my cruise engines always cut out. This never happens anywhere else in the game, only this mission. After F2 to start engines, my hands aint near the Kbrd, so im not hitting any keys by mistake and im not crashing into any gates or asteroids. Also, my engines cut at different places each race. Has anybody got any ideas please. If not , can some kind soul send me a post mission 6 save please cause im not going to get any further without help and i really do want to carry on the game.
Many thanks
Oakey

Well... you're using F2 and altough I never use F2, I believe that's the "go to" button. This only takes you to the first ring (or waypoint). What you need to do is use shift+W. This is the standard keycombi to start your cruise engine.
I really hope you were joking when you said you been working on this for 3 weeks. Maybe you should have read the manual: "Default key setup"

Please read my post again. The problem has nothing to do with how i start the engines, F2 starts them fine. Waypoints seem to be disabled in this mission anyway, it wouldn't be much of a race if you could just autopilot to each gate. The problem is my cruise engines are cutting out at random points around the course for no apparent reason. I was just wondering if this is a known bug and if there is a way round it.

Cruise engines in 'Go To' mode cut out near the target waypoint and they can also cut out if the computer thinks there is an obstruction in the flight path (hoops, Hovis, weapon platforms ...). This can happen even in mouse flight.

Use free mouse flight and activate the cruise engines directly (SHIFT+W unless you have rebound your keys). Then you'll have no such problems.
