Those &$(#$^ locked gates

I'm hoping someone can direct me to a MOD or provide some advice here...

I downloaded the "Planet Types" mod, that has the system with "realisticly sized planets"....the jump hole for this system is in Kepler.

I started a new game with the NoStory mod on, but the story is NECESSARY to unlock all the gates! Thus, I can't use the Kepler gate or jumphole. Any advice? I really want to check out this system, not spend 2 days getting far enough in the missions to unlock the gate.

Several options.

Start FLServer on your machine and connect to it.

Descramble a savegame and remove all 'locked_gate' entries (the npc_locked_gate things are for the AI, leave them alone) then load this savegame.

Try the "Open Gates" mod (or whatsitcalled). It may be compatible with your mod.

Play the SP campaign until after mission 4 (after mission 3 all exits out of Liberty are still locked ). This does not take more than one or two hours because you can fly the story missions back-to-back if you use the tricks I posted in the thread Level 7.
