FAQ''s: Paralyzer Missile/Champion Shields/Nomad guns
After a few weeks on these forums you will see the same questions over and over again. Often several times a day. Feel free to try the "search forums" facility, or change the drop down box in the top right to "show topics from the last 30 days", scroll down a bit, and you will soon find your answer.
Here are some answers to the most common posts, because I'm in a generous and helpful mood. (And it makes it easy to copy / paste answers !)
Paralyzer Missiles
These missiles drop from certain wrecks. The Paralyzer launcher is also on some wrecks but does not drop. YOU CAN NOT GET THE PARALYZER LAUNCHER IN A NORMAL GAME. If you want one, get a mod. See the mod forum or downloads section. The 10 missiles you get are only good for selling at $72,000.
Level 10 shields
The highest shield in the normal game is a level 10 Positron (Adv Brigandine) available at Planets Crete and Malta, Ruiz Base, and Leon base. Some npc ships carry the Adv. Champion lvl 10 Graviton shield but THIS SHIELD IS NOT FOR SALE ANYWHERE. We don't know if this is an oversight or a play-balancing issue, but if you want to get one, get a mod - see above.
Nomad Guns
Yes - before you declare you're the first one to find the secret we all know that the Nomads around the two unknown jumpholes (Omicron Alpha and Omicron Gamma) occasionally drop prototype nomad guns. These have great damage and use no energy. To get them, just kill a few waves of Nomads until they drop some - after you reach about level 32 they seem to drop more often. They are very nice, probably the best weapons in the game, but its a shame about the rather disappointing purple effect.
Easter Egg Planets
One of the unknown systems has two planets - populated by monkeys and robots (Planets Primus and Gammu). Again, sorry but you are not the first to find these, although well done if you discovered them for yourself. If you haven't been there yet, have a look, its worth a trip (the first time anyway, the novelty soon wears off).
Hispania Wreck
This is another frequently posted item. The wreck of the sleeper ship Hispania has been discovered - it is in Omicron Alpha near to Planet Malta. Nothing else special about it. Just a pile of mangled steel.
Ships
There are no light fighters or freighters which can carry class 10 weapons or shields, even though these items exist in the game. The best very heavy fighter ship for armour is the Titan (available at Planet Crete), the best for maneuverability is the Eagle (Freeport 9), and the Sabre (Vogland Base) is between the two. You can choose your favourite and argue its merits all day if you like. (Personally I like the Eagle ...)
Class 10 turrets
Another item which DOES NOT EXIST IN THE NORMAL GAME. There are ships with slots for them, but class 9 is the best you can get. Again, try a mod for these if you fancy one.
Equipping looted weapons
CLICK THE SMALL BLUE BOX in the top left of the weapon icon when landed in a base to equip the weapon. No, you don't have to sell it and buy it back. Yes you are - if you just kicked yourself. And yes, the manual is almost useless (if you read it).
Levelling up after the missions
During the single player missions you level up by reaching the net worth required for the next level. After the missions are completed, the display changes to show HOW MUCH MORE YOU NEED TO INCREASE YOUR WORTH BY, not the figure you must reach. Don't ask why it changes - just to confuse everyone probably.
After firing the artefact and activating the hypergate, you go back to Manhatten and Juni tells you to freelance. Orillion asks you to be the eyes and ears of The Order. That's it. No more missions will come up - you've finished the campaign. Go freelance and explore, there's plenty left to see and do.
If anyone thinks I've missed anything out, please feel free to add on to this thread, but please don't use it to ask more questions to which the answers have been posted many, many times.
