Newb here

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

There are a number of police supply depots off to the west of manhatten. I reccomend strafing them with lavablades.

Keep trying to dock at Buffalo and Rochester Bases in NY, but don't kill any Rogues, eventually they'll let you in.

I got neutral with Zoners and Rogues by killing Xenos. Killing Bounty Hunters is faster though. It took awhile until Rogues/Outcasts/LaneHackers would give me missions, but they eventually did. Cortez is a nice system to do mid-levels as a criminals. Or head into California, attack H-Fuel shipments and sell them on Cali-Minor. Bounty Hunters may start coming after you, but good for them!

Killing Xenos get's you a WORSE rep with Zoners.
Only way to fix Zoner rep is with Bribe. Zoners sell Eagle.

IIRC you don't have to be friendly with a faction for buying their ships, as long as they are not outright hostile (in which case you wouldn't be able to dock with their bases). It is only equipment that has rep requirements, from not-too-unfriendly for low-level equipment to all-green for Tizonas etc.

And I don't think it is possible to make the Zoners hostile by killing Xenos. I have killed hundreds of Xenos (for purely scientific purposes ) and my Zoners rep was only about one square unfriendly.

Xenos rep goes down 0.0084 for each kill and zoners have 0.15 empathy with xenos - I make that 476 xenos kills for zoners to go from pure neutral to -0.6 which is borderline hostile. But then bribes for zoners can be found at most freeports easily. Plus, zoners have positive empathy with lane hackers, unioners, GMG, IMG and bounty hunters. I don't think I've ever been hostile with zoners either but it is possible.

I've been within a gnat's eyelash of Hostile with Zoners. Of course, I don't remember what my
standing was with GMG, IMG, & Unioners who the Zoners also care about. (0.10 empathy)

I don't usually worry about 0.05 empathy.

Here's a question that always bugged me: Say you slaughter a faction like the Xenos, but an
empathy/sympathy faction like Zoners is not yet on your rep list (you haven't met them yet)
Through other action, your rep with Xenos goes Neutral. (Xenos are known for that)
NOW you encounter the Zoners. How do they react to you? Current rep or do they know of the genocide?

PS. I HATE bad rep advice, got in big trouble with Bundschuh, etc. over 'kill all those Mollys!' advice as a noob

Hey Fro,

It seems it DOES affect before you meet. I did a comparision on the Hessians with/without meeting, then killing corsairs. Same results. With no other factors (ie; bounty hunter rep) it took 25 corsairs to get Hessians 'non-hostile' ;-)

Just shoot the Bounty Hunters. That way you get friendly with me too...

Careful what you wish... You might just get it.
