How can I become a Bounty Hunter?

In Multiplayer, you start the game with "Navy" in your name. You are allied with them, and Friendly, Neutral, Enemy, etc with others. The game is described as being able to choose your destiny. I've removed the "Navy" from my name with a couple attacks on Liberty Navy. I've now done over 120 missions for the Bounty Hunters especially from Sheffield and Deshima stations. I almost only exclusively do Bounty Hunter missions. I have flown a Hammerhead for the last 15 levels. Iam L38 and STILL cannot fill up my rep bar with the Bounty Hunters to get their designation put in my name where Navy was when I started. I have found nothing explaining how to do this.

What am I doing wrong? Is this impossible? If so, WHY!?

Some say its possible but most agree it's not. I've only ever see people with Navy with their nicks online, but that's only until they piss off the Navy enough.

lol my roommate got bountyhunters on his name by accident he fought the bounter hunters for quit some time then hit bretonia space and killed any1 there besides bountyhunters and now he isn't full green with the bh's but he has bountyhunter beside his name

btw u don't need to fly the same kind of ships they do.... i'm not sure whats by my name... i haven't gotten any1 to tell me.. well anyway i'm sure i'm not GMG because i fly and eagle when i have 5 pirate grps and zoners as full on the rep bar as i can get them. i just hope i'm not a xeno..

i flew with some1 who was BMM - (name)

so it is possible, but i think u must have very friendly with 1 and others almost neutral/neutral/hostile... but i don't know that for sure...

to get proper rep i asume u must be alied with all of their allies and hostile with all of thie enimies

think about it u hostile with the primary libery pirates an allied with all of liberys allies or neutall so thats y u have navey by yer name if u were to be allied with outcasts for example u msut be allied witht heir allies and enimies witht heir enimies
