Mission6:Hovis race

I cant win this race. I tried it too often. Now please can someone give me a hint or cheat how to finish successfully this part of the mission?

Use your cruise engines right aay. Look two gates ahead so you know where to turn. easy then. If they knock u uot of cruise thrusters the rest of the way.

The best way i found is to use your cruise engines and the strafe manouvers. about two thirds of the way into the race hovis' engines cut out giving ample chance to get past him.
Instead of turning directly for the hoops, turn slightly toward the next hoop and strafe into the hoops

Hi, use the (shift + W) keys for engines, I made the mistake of hitting F2 which also activates the cruise engines but they always cut out during the race

Take the very inside of every gate in cruise. Or download FLMM v. 1.0 then activate cruise 3000 mod. He speeds away and only makes it through one gate. You use your thrusters instead of cruise.
