Freelancers original storyline changed??

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Freelancers original storyline changed??

Hi, i'm looking thru some old CGI screen shots of the opening of Freelancer and reading other places that when the sleeper ships left the war around 800 years ago, some Nomad ships then came in and wiped out the sun (or something like that)....now in the current CGI of the game, they took out that part of the movie...

For example, here the nomad ships come in:

and then attack the sun:

does anyone know why they took out the scene where the nomads attack?
did they change the story line?? what was the original storyline? the shoots are labeld April 2001, so their pretty old so....

just wondering....

Yes siree bob, they did change the storyline. But why, I can only speculate. I speculate that they didn't want to reveal the Nomads in that sort of fashion. If you look closely at the OFFICIAL opening movie, you can make out a Nomad ship. The original storyline would probably follow something like this:

Nomads wipe out solar system; one person survives
That one person, let's call him Captain Nemo, flies to the Sirius Sector
He warns the settlers on soon-to-be Planet Manhattan
Through the centuries, the colonies suffer an identity crisis
They fly back to the coordinates where Sol was
They find nothing
They soon make contact with the Nomads
The Nomads tell them the whole story

If you want more details about my theory, email me at [email protected]-
I'll elaborate on it and maybe even make a fanfiction of some sort.

My guess is that they didn't want to limit themselves to just the Sirius sector, and leave open the possibility of a Coalition invasion of Sirius.
