Dumping Cargo

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Dumping Cargo

I suppose this is something of a spoiler, so I'm posting it here.

When someone demands my cargo, and they aren't on my list, I cruise away. I thought that this would only work with trade lanes / jump gates, but last night I was stopped in the middle of a trade lane (disrupted). I started cruising before the dialog box popped up, and cancelled it immediately.

The pirates were off the scope before they went hostile, and my reputation was unchanged. I know that it was unchanged because at that point, I hadn't attacked anyone, so all the reputations were at default levels.

I saw a post about dumping part of their cargo vs. dumping all of it. At the time I thought, "I've never dumped anything." The only time I saw them go hostile was before I had finished the SP campaign, and was still familiarizing myself.

I'm just trying to share some information. 90% of the information posted in here is known to 90% of the Freelancers that view these pages. I'm just trying to give the other 10% a leg up, so lay off, Mr. Lieutennant Commander.

Sence anyone who ever had any kind of cargo on thier ship had been stoped, then I would say that you just informed about .01% of the players that are complete idiots. So, thank you... I guess.

If I had a nickel for every time someone told me that my idea for melting down coins to make a giant robotic parrot was a bad idea, I would have one kicka$$ giant robotic parrot.

Thorkild,

Sorry to disappoint you, but it doesn't work that way.

When you get disrupted, and the pirates demand your cargo, you can hit cruise and get away. It's because the computer keeps the pirates at the ambush point until they succeed in ambushing someone.

If you're in open space, and you run into a neutral pirate group on patrol that demands your cargo, you can't run away on cruise. The pirates will match your speed and start to "form up" on you, until the timer runs out and they turn hostile.

If the pirates don't have cruise disruptors (Liberty space), then it's not a problem. But if the pirates have cruise disruptors, then they'll knock you out of cruise and engage.

If you're near a trade lane or jump gate/hole, then you can get away easy. Otherwise, you're in for a fight.

Well, besides that, you can also try this,
when you're lane hacked and you're slowing down, just click on any of the neutral ships that's blocking your way and click on 'Hail' on the lower left hand box. This would make you 'override' their demands. After that, just keep clicking it to bug that guy.

Heck, can this work in MP games? If it can, it means a new way of spamming had just been created! lol
