We had this question a few weeks back as well. The game gives you the impression that Freeport 7 was in Sigma 17. There can be found debris in that system. The truth is that the system with Freeport 7 is a separate system that you won't be able to visit.

As you can see the positions within the Sirius sector are different.
The strid_name stands for the name of the system and if you look that up it says: Omicron Major.

So Freeport 7 was in Omicron Major then? Nope
First of all, a system can not be in another system and secondly:

Omicron Major:

as you can see, the position of Omicron Major is not the same as the Freeport 7 system

One more time:

For the intro sequence, DA created a seperate system (fp7_intro), which is a carbon copy of Sigma 17 and can't be accessed without modding. Guess what - that system is called Omicron Major. "Huh?", you think. "I thought that was the name of the system with the Dyson Sphere..." well, it is. Someone at DA either forgot to relabel the place, or simply didn't bother, as you're not supposed to go there anyway. FP7's "real" location is Sigma 17.

It wouldn't be surprising if they forgot to relabel it. As far as I can see, my copy mislabels the Nomad Lair as in Omicron Beta, and planet Toledo as in Omicron Alpha.

I thought the Omicron Beta label was on purpose, just look at the nonexistant system the Nomad Lair is in, looks very much like Beta, radiation and green and rocks. But my question is, why would they need a FP7 system, you never go to it ever.

That's funny, I thought that Freeport 7 was in OMICRON MINOR

After activating the Grrsk mod, during the Intro movie, I saw a Nomad Jump Gate and a Station that was added in the Grrsk mod. I went to the system and saw this with my own eyes. Unfortunately, I have no visual proof. But I really hope that this will shed some light on where Freeport 7 was.
