optimized trading

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

optimized trading

After maxing out my ship (Titan/Nomad energy cannons/Wyrm Type 2/Sunslayer torps/Rippers/etc.), I decided to become a trader and sold the Titan for a Humpback.

Currently I ship diamonds from New Berlin via the S-13 jumphole to New Tokyo, bringing back niobium to The Ring, then shuttling empty to Berlin again. The round trip yields about 550k $.

Does anyone have a more profitable - especially a shorter - trade route ?

Any answer highly appreciated!

Kai

From your post I assume that you are playing single player since you mention the New Berlin to Sigma 13 jump hole that is not available is multiplayer. The best trade route in single player is to take engine components from New Berlin to Yanagi Depot and then Cardamine back to New Berlin. You can make 284750 per round trip in a humpback and it only takes about 5 minutes including mapping docking buying and selling.

You are right - single player, currently.

Thank you for the info - I usually don't deal in Cardamine, for moral reasons , but I'll try this one )

Good flyin' to you!

Dromedaries carry 275 cargo. You might be better off with that, and believe me, that setup you mentioned up there with the Titan and Sunslayers is *not* the best.

Thanks for the info !

I considered the dromedary, but since I have trouble with the Bounty Hunters, I decided to take the better shields of the Humper (saves on shield batteries, although I rarely need'em).

What better config do you have in mind for the Titan ?

Dunham, you will survive longer in the Dromedary.

The extra shielding of the Humpback does not compensate for the fact that you are a sitting duck in this vessel.

If you make a poll in this forum, I think you will find that most of the players who prefer Humpback have never tried the Dromedary, while most of the players who prefer Dromedary have tried both.

If you don't like to deal with Cardamine, try to deliver Gate/Lane Parts from Pueblo Base in Colorado to Tau-31 Gate Construction Site in Tau-31 and bring back with Beryllium. The total profit by Humpback is $495,000 and $544,500 by Dromedary, while your expenses is only $110,000 and 121,000 respectively.

Note: the total profit has already subtracted the expenses.

I evaluated some of the round-trip trade lanes recommended on this forum

Here is the (interim) result, which I will update by editing this posting:

Note:
1. No offense meant to all who recommended their prefered trade lane - if I comment negatively on the route, it's just because of the measurement taken.
2. My only enemies are the Bounty Hunters, so if you have trouble with other factions, some of the trade lanes may not be feasible for you.
3. The measurement runs have been done in a Dromedary freighter (a big thank you to Gnavpot for pointing out the benefits of that ship to me !), but should be valid for most other vessels, too.
4. I prefer not to trade in Cardamine, therefore only one of those routes is included (yet). Still, it seems those are the most profitable short-range routes.

The statistics shown consist of:
- The trade route (self-explanatory),
- the profit per unit (based on a complete round-trip. Multiply this with the cargo capacity of your vessel, eg x250 for a Humpback, or x275 for a Dromedary)
- the tour time (full round trip, including trade lane disruption, queuing at gates, buying, selling, mapping, but not natural breaks for the player . These times may vary from mission to mission.)
- the profit per unit/ minute: This is the objective measure of a tour's quality

If I don't mention a destination's system, use F6 and the Base List to locate that system.

And here we go:

Tour 1:
[Recommended by Pinger, modified by Dunham
[Comment: Avoid, avoid, avoid

Buy engine components at Honshu
Sell at Mactan
Buy gold
Sell at Manhattan
Buy Luxury Consumer Goods
Sell at Honshu

Profit: 2340$ / unit
Tour time: 60 min
Profit/unit: 39$/min

Tour 2:
[Modified tour 1, also recommended my sandorski
[Comment: Barely better

Buy engine components at Honshu
Sell at Denver
Buy Luxury Consumer Goods
Sell at Honshu

Profit: 1432$ / unit
Tour time: 33 min
Profit/unit: 43$/min

Tour 3:
[My old favourite
[Comment: Not too bad

Buy Niobium at New Tokyo
Sell at The Ring (New Berlin system)
Shuttle empty to New Berlin
Buy Diamonds
Sell at New Tokyo

NOTE: Tour takes slightly longer in multiplayer, without Sigma-13 jumphole

Profit: 2182$ / unit
Tour time: 24 min
Profit/unit: 92$/min

Tour 4:
[Recommended by Airborne
[Comment: A waste of time

There are two routes for this mission - one north via Kyushu (passing harmless minefield and using jumpholöe to Shikogu), one south via Leeds (using Magellan jump hole). Both take approximately the same time.

Buy Beryllium at Tau-31 Gate Construction Site (system Tau-23)
Sell at Pueblo Base (Colorado)
Buy Gate lane parts
Sell at Tau-31 Gate Construction Site

Profit: 1980$ / unit
Tour time: 46 min
Profit/unit: 43$/min

Tour 5:
[Recommended by hairfarmer and MegaStar
[Comment: Pretty good, although illegal

Buy Engine Components at New Berlin
Sell at Yanagi Depot (Sigma-13)
Buy Cardamine
Sell at New Berlin

NOTE: Sigma-13 jumphole only available in single player, tour via Frankfurt is still good, but considerably longer

Profit: 1138$ / unit
Tour time: 5 min
Profit/unit: 227$/min

Tour 6:
[Recommended by sp00n - see below
[Comment: Not bad - the best non-cardamine tour I've seen so far

Buy Light Weapons at New London
Sell at Cardiz Base (Omega 5)
Buy Artifacts
Sell at New London

Profit: 1502$ / unit
Tour time: 16 min (measured according to the method given above)
Profit/unit: 94$/min

Interim summary: You either trade in Cardamine or you go back to Crete, Malta, etc., and kill Bounty hunters for money. Trade doesn't pay (enogh).

light arms from new london (350) => cadiz base (omega-5) (840)
artifacts back (135 => 1147).

time needed: 14 minutes
profit: 1502 per cargo unit
~107 credits per cargo and minute

***EDIT:
your "Tour 5" is only for singleplayer.
