Eagle vs Sabre

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Eagle vs Sabre

Which one is the best ship? They seem to have very similar stats. The differences are:

The Eagle looks better
The Sabre has more armor
The Sabre’s turret can fire forward

In terms of shape and size, I'm not sure which one is a harder target to hit.

A question about the maneuverability of very heavy fighters. Is there a rule? The more armor, the less agility? I didn’t find these stats anywhere.

I must be bored to respond to this...

the saber has a little more firepower due to its turret. but the eagle is more maneuverable and is a smaller target. but jesus christ, please search the forum before posting becaues this subject (or somthing similer) is posted about 3 times a day...

If I had a nickel for every time someone told me that my idea of building a giant robotic parrot out of melted down coins was a bad idea, I would have one kick a$$ giant robotic parrot.

Not only has this particular horse been beaten to death, it's been resurrected and done again, over and over. There is no overall best among the VHFs, they each have certain advantages and disadvantages depending on what you're using them for. I always think of this old pun when I see people debating this highly subjective topic: "the most dangerous part of any car is the nut that holds the steering wheel."

Titan is the best...

Post Wed Apr 30, 2003 8:15 pm

Yeah but the Titan is ugly. I myself prefer the Sabre. It looks good enough and has the better firepower(turret can fire foreward). I never use the turet on the Titan because I never have the time to fire backwards.

sabre is also ugly. i dont really like its desgn tho.. eagle has better shape but i prefer the stiletto... beautiful but weak..

argh.. im never gonna get paid.. gooby a million credits..

Can we just shoot the next person to start this entirely stupid thread. It boils down to personal preference, nothing more, there is no definitive best.

It depends on your playing style.

Choose the Titan if you want a big target that moves like a tank but has the heaviest armour and can hold the most shield batteries/nanobots

Choose the Eagle if you don't mind having quite a bit less armour and shield batteries/nanobots, but want a much smaller target that maneuvers noticeably better.

Choose the Sabre if you can get by with the reduced shield batteries/nanobots but are willing to sacrifice having a smaller target (and maybe some maneuverability) for slightly heavier armour and the ability to have a forward firing turret.

Personally, I don't mind the looks of any of them. That shouldn't be the main factor in how you choose your ship either. I like the Sabre most because the way that the turret is mounted gives it the most forward facing firepower. I have noticed that I seem to lose weapons much quicker with the Titan than I do with the Sabre and the Eagle as well.

eagle. dont waste your time trying to argue about my OPINION because I won't change it and because I'm not coming back to this thread because there are millions of threads about this subject anyway.

The maneuverability thing is cool. The Sabre seems the best all around vehicle because of the turret. Well, I really don't know.

Of course looks are important.

So there were lots of threads about this. Lemme give this one a new twist: one cool thing to put on an expansion/sequel to FL is to have the ship you choose influence your relations. So if you have a corsair ship, it's hard to get allied with the outcasts, and that sort of thing.

How many times must this be repeated? <sigh> As for my opinion; I don't feel like typing out the same thing(s) all over again, so look at my sig and that should tell ya which ship I prefer...

Doesn't your sig kinda make it obvius?

Post Mon May 05, 2003 10:14 pm

I have flow all 3 of them,

I Hate the titan : damn slowass ship and pretty ugly
The sabre: i think it is the best looking ship, and therefore my favorite, but it is also a slow-ass ship

Therefore i always fly the eagle : it looks cool to me, but the real reason i fly the eagle is because it's high manouverability, i fly it with 2DLC's,2Nomad cannons and 2 diamondbacks.....

Any suggestions anyone???

I keep a savegame for each one, and one for a freighter. As for which is better...it's been beaten THROUGH the ground.

Reaper: $200,000,000.
Rockets: $100,000
The look on that pilot's face when you launch a full pod of screamers up his tailpipe: priceless

Yes, everyone has their own opinion about which is best. But I like the Sabre the most. It has a good balance of armour and maneuverability. Being able to make use of a forward firing turret is another big factor too. When you are going up against fleets of Very Heavy Fighters, I would rather be able to kill them quicker than be able to fend off their attacks more. I also find that I lose weapons quicker with the Titan than I do with other ships. I have experimented with different ships and weapon combos and my personal favorite is the Sabre with 4 Nomad energy blasters, 2 Kraken type 2 guns, and a Salamanca turret. They all have the same rate of fire and I am usually able to take out 8-12 very heavy fighters at a time without using any shield batteries or nanobots. That's what I use, that's what I recommend, but everyone has their own preference so just use what works best for you.
