Odd almost-symmetry in Liberty

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Odd almost-symmetry in Liberty

As responses to this question might be spoilers, I'm posting in this forum.

Liberty space shows a rather unusual symmetry on the map: there's no obvious reason for it, unless perhaps as an attention-catcher. Alaska is the 'odd star' -- there's no corresponding star to the left. Coincidence?

It's not possible to go places without using jumpgates/jumpholes? (An experiment suggests not, but perhaps I was just not patient enough...?)

About the symmerty part. Yeah, I noticed that to, but I don't think it's a big deal. It's just what Digital Anvil made up.

And no, you can't go to another system without using the jump holes or gates.

When you've exlpored the whole universe and have completed your map, the lines that connect the systems form a picture that to me almost looks like the helmet of Darth Vader.

I also think it looks a little like the Freelancer desktop icon as well.

Also, if you look at the Manual that comes with the game, you can see a distorted map of Liberty, Kusari, some Bretonia and some Rhineland space.
