PLEASE don't mod the sp game, mainly because, look you paid $50 (american, sorry, not great with foreign money) for the game, and in this game, if you cheat what's the fun...Yes, all the nomad missions are toughies, I'll give that to you, but I beat the game with numerous times with many different ships, Drake, Dragon (liked drake much more), and of course the anubis (yuk, seems like it flies tighter than all other VHFs, maybe its just me...), now one could argue that i've posted this message for the simple reason of bloating, but that could not be any further from the truth, this message was posted for the "reasons" above and because, i see people that come on TLR all the time and say, I'm dissapointed with Freelancer. I've beaten the game only once in my invincible Titan that I made buyable at Manhattan at the beginning of the game for $5...my point here is that, if you cheat you get to experience so many things you shouldn't until after you've beaten the game...I beat the game twice before even starting to mod, and i was just using mods like Porsches ship pack, I didn't know how to mod, myself, so i kept busy with others until i tought myself to...anyway, i really dont think you should mod the SP story (Save that for MP ...j/k )

How can I make the single-player game easier ?
If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

sorry about the double post, but i thought i'd actually help out some lancers here. On mission 10, i know you are past it now, the trick is to fly underneath the battleship and one of its sides, there are no guns there and ships have a hard time shooting you..I recommend using mostly reapers, as they are energy efficient and stronger than the deaths hand...after you destroy one, Botzler when do a run and blow them all up...on mission 11, i know this sounds kind of stupid, biased, or maybe "easier than it is"....but bear with me...as soon as you enter the place, turn your engines onto full speed and break hard left, it took me some time to realize this, but it seems to be the best way to avoid fighters, when you have to destroy the generators, approach from the top, turrets on the ground have a hard time hitting you, the generators take quite alot of punch to destroy, i recommend going in there with 50 starkillers and 50 (what mine is it?)...split your ammo as evenly as possible between the generators (12 torps/12 mines for each one, happy birthday you piece of s**t )Alot of your wing (if not all) will be destroyed in this run, dont worry you arent doing anything wrong, guess they are just lousy pilots...lol, j/k ...anyway, i cant upload a program here that automatically makes you good at Freelancer, so i'll just stop writing
You can control the difficulty to some extent: use a light fighter if you want it easy, use a heavy one if you want it hard.
The light fighters have almost the same shield capacity, armour and powerplant as the heavy fighters of the same class - the difference is just a few percent. So it is most definitely not true that a heavy fighter can take much more punishment than a light one; it can take only marginally more. But the heavy fighters have to take much more punishment than the light fighters because they are too slow to dodge enemy fire effectively. A heavy fighter would need a shield at least two classes higher in order to get the same 'survivabililty' as one of the highly manoeuverable light fighters but they have to make do with the same shield. That is why it is harder to fly the campaign mission in a HF (or a freighter, for that matter ).
The only advantage of the heavy fighters is that they can use torpedo launchers and that they have more hardpoints which means they can use more than one missile launcher without sacrificing too much fire power from guns. Against stationary or slow-moving targets (or AI ships during initial approach) they can do twice the damage compared to a light fighter, while the ammo lasts. But on the whole the HF cannot take out enemy fighters fast enough to compensate for their bad survivability.
Not all light fighters are equal, though. The best choices for the campaign are Patriot, Cavalier and Drake. The Hawk is not bad but it cannot match the Drake.

Antilles, you are the worst loser that ever haunted these forums. If you had read this thread before spamming it then you would have known that this was mentioned already in this very thread (and many others before this). Granted, the assumption that you can read is somewhat tenuous ... FOAD anyway.
the difficulty scale is a sliding scale
1.00 = 100% damage
0.00 = Zero damage
try setting for 0.75 (75% damage).
may take a few tries to get the balance between life and challenge right...but it worked for me (but after i did the missions with reduced difficulty, i reset to full and tried again for fairness)
Just my $0.02, but it could just be the cardamine talking.
