Why doesn''t the NY - Magellan work for everyone?

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Why doesn''t the NY - Magellan work for everyone?

I'm just wondering, some of my friends complain the get a access denied when they try to jump the New York - Maggelan secret jumpgate (D7)

When i try i can access it with no problems.

As far as I know, the gate only works in single player.

"I HATE THE BADLANDS!"

Well, they're not called the BADLANDS for nothing...
Hmm. I never seem to have any problem!

This jump hole is a very good one, because you can travel fast from NY to Leeds. In the Magellan system you have a Leeds jump hole nearby. Or for drug transports from Mactan Base to Manhatten. profit $690/unit.

Yup. Shortens NY-Leeds route bunches. Then you can get out to Omicron Alpha or somewhere similar faster than any other route.

Reaper: $200,000,000.
Rockets: $100,000
The look on that pilot's face when you launch a full pod of screamers up his tailpipe: priceless

Maybe they have a faction problem. The jump gates are owned/maintained/controlled by various factions and if you are hostile to them, the gate will go red, at which point it won't operate for you. I believe the gate in question is actually controlled by the Liberty Police. You can get the "Access Denied" message when if you attempt to dock at a hostile base (shows up red) and I think the same message occurs with hostile jump gates.

Don't remember that happening when pretty much anyone in the Kusari zone was gunning for me. The gate was red and worked just fine.
The gate could be locked if you're still in the early SP missions though.

You have to be a particular level to get through them..

Not true. I've gone through enough gates that shot at my butt while letting me through at the same time.

Not offering an answer here, but I use that gate quite often and I never had any problems.

In SP Juni locks the gate behind her so the Liberty Navy can't follow you, then the Bounty Hunters jump you and the Lane Hackers help you get to Bretonia.

1) The gate only works in SP, not MP. Even then,

2) You have to complete Mission 4. This unlocks all the gates out of Liberty (to Magellan, Hudson, Gallileo, Keplar, Cortez, Bering)

Once 1) and 2) have been met, the gate will function. Hostile or not.
