Last Mission Help (at least I hope it''s the last mission

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Last Mission Help (at least I hope it''s the last mission

K, so I'm on what I think is the last mission, you know, bust into the dyson sphere, then board the "city" inside it.... It's just not working
current loadoat is 2x Stealthblade mk 1's (maybe mk2? not sure), 2x Luger A's, 2x "dumb" l5 missiles (the ones with high damage-low turn), and one of the order turrets... along with order hf shield and Heavy Thrusters...
On an anubis of course
I WAS doing fine until I ran out of missile ammo taking down the generators outside the sphere.... now I'm inside the sphere trying to take down the generators creating the shield around the city... and I'm out of missles, have 1 block of armor, and die before I even scratch the first generator how the HELL are you supposed to beat this mission? you don't get to resupply through 4+ fights!
oh, and I wish they'd tell you you didn't have to take out battlecruisers and **** before you send 15 torpedoes and 30+ missiles slamming into them I've nearly killed or totally killed 5-6 battleships in various missions only to be told to pull back right before I woulda killed em
and why do torpedoes suck so much? it'd take me 20+ torpedoes to take down a battleship... which basically means I can't if all I use is the so-called "shipkillers"... I end up sending missiles in too cause paired missiles do the same damage, travel faster, and fire twice as fast

*ahem* anyway... what's some good strats for this mission? by the way thanks to my missile use I'm utterly out of money

Yeah, it is sneaky the way they lure you into the last missions then give you no chance to resupply. Makes it a bit more interesting i suppose.

Usual advice :

Use your afterburners in short bursts
Use your side thrusters to weave about and give you a longer time to shoot in one pass or just hold them down.
Run away and weave about to regen your shields without using batts.
Turn sharply all the time and in combo with afterburners.
Remember to concentrate your fire on one gun/generator or whatever : Better to have 5/10 guys dead than 10 guys with half damage.

Personally i would ditch the missiles i think you're better off with guns, but plenty of people use missiles to good effect.
As for the torpedos i totally agree, they suck . Still be glad you've killed a few battleships, after the missions you never get another chance - that 0 beside BS killed can really get to u Good luck.

Aim just to the Inner side of one of the generators, Turbo until you hit max speed, then hit 'Z' to kill your thrusters, then turn your ship to face the generator, firing and launching torpedoes as you slide past it all newtonian phsics stlye.
Being on the city side of the generators seems to confuse the Nomads and they tend to hit the generator, determined to attack you from the other side as they seem to be.
After you take no.1, hit cruise and run the hell away from the nomads near the gen you just killed... after a certain distance they just stopped chasing me, and i hit the next generator the same way, aim to one side, boost then kill the engines, strafing past all weapons blazing. Again stay on the city side of the generator and the defending nomads really struggle to hurt you.

I won't tell you what happens next, but its a lot of fun.

oh... and i got one battleship kill... wonder why the nomad ones don't count.

Personally I don't use rockets, ammo runs out way too quickly for my tastes.

Anyway if you look at the generators they have columns on top. Go hide between those, nose against the top of the genrator, speed 0 and shoot till they blow up. No turrets can hit you there and most nomads won't notice you. (I know it's cheap but it works, wonderful for weapon platforms early on too)

You can do something similar with the genreators outside the sphere hiding under them.

Just finished SP for the third time today, and I found it horribly easy now...

You shouldn't have bothered with missiles and you would have found it a lot easier with better guns. I went through the later missions with 6 Cosair Angelito II cannons (you can capture these off the Cosairs in south east Honshu) and a torpedo launcher.

I think the torpedos are a bit expensive but they aren't really under power... heard of the IJN Yamato? It took the Americans 18 torpedos plus 30 bombs to sink the sucker!

The way to win the mission is to hide from the Nomad fighters. Try sitting right next to the generator and blast away, when the Nomads start hitting you go around to the other side and continue with your demolition work. Torpedos are must-have in this mission!

my loadout:
anubis, of course.
full load of batts and nanobots, thats when i launch from the base.
plus like 4 lvl guns, i think 2 stealthblades and 2 pyros type II's if i'm not mistaken
the other two hard points being a slingshot and catapult.
advanced thruster of fuel consumption rate of 125. its worth it.
a starkiller torp launcher
start off with full loads from the osiris.
ignore the nomads. your wingmates will somehow divert a tiny fraction of their attention.
cruise to the four corners of the centre where you see the satellite things. go into the drain like thing, the dug-out. it'll take off a significant amount of firepower from the nomads off your backs. then burn toward one of the gens. when withing 2k, launch a torp and missiles, then keep burning, and go up a bit, and shoot down, at the gen, as to avoid hitting your projectiles, and launch another salvo of torps and missiles.
just keep going round and round until you'r done with one. then repeat process with the others. however, i'd caution that you have at least 25 torps and 25 of each missle left over. you'll need the rest.
go into the homeworld thing, and cruise to one of the sats. ignore king and juni's chatter. when within 2k, repeat process same with the previous gens. you'll only neeed to take out 2 i think, or maybe 3. but well, just keep taking it out. then it'll weaken and stuff, and game over.

presently, my world is upside down, so if u do not mind, u'll have to tok to my a$$

time to put an end the floating blue bastards[![!

I had no need for a single missile throughout the single player campaign and I bet it saved me a helluva lot of money. On that last mission I barely sustained a scratch, you can get in close enough and fire away while the rest of em fly around shooting like mad not hitting anything....

well, I finally beat the mission... good thing you only have to take out 2 of the second set of generators, I was out of torps after the first
Ended up trading my dual missile launchers for two of the Order weapons (you know, the 140 credit ones) and I also declined to waste ammo on the second battleship that shows up right before you're ordered back to base... last time I killed it anyone else notice that for all their great technology (cloaking, wierd lasers), the nomads are pretty flimsy? nomad battleships are pretty weak... but I guess they make up for it in numbers.
Anyway, I think I just got lucky this time around, but I ended up making it through without even running out of nanobots or shield batteries as well
Thanks for the tips all

Jodo_Kast
p.s.- my missile usage was actually pretty effective, as long as I had time to rearm between missions... and a chance to make money too so why exactly are they charging you for the ammo you're using to save their sorry butts?
2 stunpulsers+2 proton cannons(the 700range/700 speed ones) plus 2 L5 missile launchers work wonders against fighters... blast em a few times with your guns to knock down shields, and a few more to put a small dent in their health, and then launch a pair of missiles and they're gone... very funny when afterburning as you fly by them only to hear em explode behind you as the missiles catch up

Right I did the mission without missles and topredoes . The is a torpedo/disruptor slot there and seeing that those nomads dont have cruise engines theres no point in having a cruise disruptor there. Also is it possible to get back into the Dyson Sphere? I wanna see if its possible to use that hypergate,
(maybe, hopefully youll use it to go somewhere else in an expansion or somthin.)
In multiplayer i never think of missles. I think they r stupid (but hey thats just my opinion ). Have you fought the nomads in multiplayer?? God they can kill you quicker than a nuns first curry.

Well, I've played through it twice, using the same strategy. I used Torps and my guns on the 4 Generators outside, (circling just above the inside edge of the canal they're in) then used my guns on the two inside the sphere.

For the inside ones, I just flew into the "V" shaped groove that runs around the middle of each generator, firing at the walls as I flew and they went down pretty quick. Maybe the turrets trying to hit me helped knock em out? I dunno, but they went down quick!

Also, flying in that groove makes it hard for anyone to shoot you as you go about your work! Saved my bacon, since I was down to about 3 Nano's and 3 Shield Bats.

i did the all the sp missions in light fighters outfitted with no higher than lvl 6 guns... its not that hard, once your inside just fly up REAL close to those obeliscs on the top of the generators and shoot your guns like mad... you should be coverd from most shots like this.
btw dont bother with missiles guns will never run out
