It's actually inside the core, I think someone said it was a protoplanet.

Object unknown are usually jump holes, which arent showing up properly.

No, this is in the middle of a sun.

It's the center of the Binary stars of the Tau 37 system. I tried a few times to fly close enough before my hull/nanobots gave way, but no luck. Well, I was in a Dromedary at the time, maybe a Saber or Titan can get close enough to it to see what it is?

...but I couldn't see anything because it was too bright...
Or the "Object Unknown" is just there as a programer hack for something else,
and they made it 1x1x1 pixels big...

I have just my own theory what that is. It's a legacy jump hole that used to be located in that system (just a bit N of it's current location) that took you directly to NY. Nice shortcut. Taken out for retail release tho. That was the best illegal goods run ever....

Yup, it's a neutron star that doesn't give off light, just hull decaying radiation.

Are you sure that you all aren't confusing this unknown object with the Griffin, a derelict ship? It is one of the only things of interest in that system. Try going around the sun.

look, could you please click on object unknown in your scanner, bottom left, click to highlight, now, look at what is selected on screen, that's right, it's the burning core of that big white sun = object unknown

Besides, the griffin is in the north of the map and shows up as is, the griffin, not object unknown. How people can confuse this seems a bit silly, I mean if you select something it's displayed on screen, surely you can figure out that it is the sun and nothing else, I mean, first time I saw it I had a split second doubt, that is all..

The sun and the object are different. Target the object and then the sun. There's about a 1400m difference.

I believe you are right stinger. I went through all the categories on my scanner and it comes up in only 2, ALL and SOLARS. now in the maunal it says SOLARS are: dockable locations such as space stations, outposts and planets. but when i selected it alas, not dockable. But maybe it once was dockable! so that all i could find out. maybe jus keep going to be bars on the Faulkland and Freeport 10. Drill the ppl who give rumors for info.

But there is ONE problem with that. You know about the little pictures that are next to what the thing is? well i noticed that it was a wreck icon and not a jump hole icon. Someone have a look at the ruined Ithaca research station, see if it shows a wreck icon next to it's name (after all you cant dock with it!) maybe they put something there that they didnt want anyone 2 know about till the expansion (blowing up a sun!!!!!!!) though logic dictates that they could have just as easily deleted the object!

During testing we were able to land at the Ithaca research station in MP too.
