anyway to tell where exactly the wrecks are in the square?

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

I keep getting radiated trying to search for items in the grid... and what does codename: ANGELA stands for in the spoiler?

Like Heltak said but remember to plot a path that keeps you away from the star.
Anything that says codename : ..... is probably a class 10 weapon.

Ehrm....I have been in several of the coordinates that the spoiler gives me.

No red X showes up. And yes, I knpw how they look like. Have seen them in other occations. But are the wrecks list only for MP ?? I currently only play SP.

Alot of the wrecks are in dust fields etc, you get the 'WARNING : Sensor efficiency reduced' blurb from your friendly onboard comp. Sometimes you dont but your sensors dont work as well anyway. In these situations you have to be very close to wrecks for them to appear.

The wrecks are located in the co-ordinates stated for both SP and MP....however, thanks to screen resolution limitations and/or slightly screwed up grid map system in Freelancer, there are quite a few wrecks out there that seem like they are somewhere else. For example, let's say a wreck is listed as located in the square 6C. However, once you find the wreck, if you "eyeball" the grid map, it may look like it's in 6D....though it'll admittedly be very close to the boundary of 6C. In my listing I've purposely left the exact location vague, because my list spoils enough as it stands...gotta leave *some* challenge, right?

Practically, what this means to us treasure hunters is that finding wrecks is not a simple "fly into the square and it will show up" deal. Instead, you'll have do some very EXTENSIVE searching...especially if the wreck is located in some sensor dampening area.

Try the following steps:

1) Plot 4 way points as close to the corners of the squares in question as possible. The idea here is to plot a path that takes you as close to the edge of the squares as possible.

2) Fly to each waypoint in turn, following the path laid out.

3) If you haven't found the wreck by the time you reach the fourth waypoint, fly back to the first waypoint (this covers the last edge of the square).

4) If you still haven't found it yet, plot a waypoint diagonally to the opposite corner of the square...then repeat for the other diagonal. I guarentee that the wreck will have been found by the end of this step.

If that sounds very long and potentially dangerous...well, you're right, it is. Hunting for wrecks is supposed to be extremely dangerous. If the area isn't that dangerous, then that area probably wouldn't have the wreck in the first place. This activity is definitely not for the impatient or ill-prepared....and I'll be the first to admit that most of us fall under the "impatient" category, given the more recent trends in many major computer games. I know that for me, wreck hunting (and come to think of it, the very nature of Freelancer in general) required a fundmental shift in my gaming paradigim in order to be successful as the game designers would probably define the term...but I digress.

Good luck!

Haen, once again you put the rest of us to shame with your explanations
If you're not already making a living out of this sort of thing you should be.
