it's appears to be only for SP... i don't like the multiplayer all that much because i don't like the idea of having to create a player for every server you visit, so i don't know if it's even there for MP...

and there are other threads about getting into the Alaska System in SP, search for it

the alaska jumgate can only be used during the SP storyline mission. there is a path through the mines but when you get to the jumpgate after the story or in MP you get an "access denied" warning.
