What is REALLY the best ship in the game?

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

What is REALLY the best ship in the game?

bleh... i finally made peace with the Corsairs (through killing over 100 Hessians/Outcasts to get them to be barley Neutral then dishing out 95,000 credits as a bribe/hack/whatever it was to get friendly with them) and i went on those Difficulty 38 Missions.. all just to get enough money to buy the TITAN, which APPEARED to be the best ship in the game cuz of it's armor, weapons, and what not.....

but once i finally bought it.. i was extrememly disappointed.. anyone notice how slow it seems to be going? (even though it says it's going at the same speed as it's supposed to be) and it's sucky manuverability? ahhh.... i get into firefights and half of them run away before i get the chance to kill em....... i wanna sell it off and get my cool-looking Eagle back... but i'm reluctant cuz of all that hard-work i spent on it... plus... two of my weapons are Diamondbacks and they drain energy like whoa... the Titan probably can handle it better than all the other ships...

but out of curiosity... what do ya'll use??? what do you guys think is the best ship??? Personally.. my favorite was the Eagle... the Sabre looked too much like a duck that got stepped on for my liking.....

Dromedary...

Eight guns
Lousy recharge rate
OK turn rate
Looks nice
Carries lots of stuff
You make more money in this ship than other ship..
Weak hull, makes life more interesting...

and with formation flying and engine cut off bugs, you are very much invicible..

...and if we are going to work together, call me Juni (wink)...

...yeah, you can call me Trent, Trent the desperate dull square jaw who just lost a million credits..

If I had a nickel for every time someone told me that my idea of building a giant robotic parrot out of melted down coins was a bad idea, I would have one kick a$$ giant robotic parrot.

For manueverability (easily dodging missiles etc) and kicking major league fanny the Eagle is the most fun to fly, especially if u can get some nomad weapons, zero energy use means no recharge problems from weaps, cna survive nicely scrounging nano's and batteries off of your kills. Second choice Sabre, its almost as much fun

Although you believe you understood what you think I said, I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

I'd actually say......the Valkirye. Up to class 8 guns, manuverable. Can outfly any VHF, that's for sure.

I am very reluctant to add any length to a what is best ship thread. You will find many posts covering almost anything about every ship in the game. I will just say this, you have flown the Eagle and the Titan, the Sabre is basicaly in between them. For VHF's that is about it. Not a trader myself, so no real input on freighters. Pick the one you like and happy hunting

Bah, to hell with VHF's! I'm sick of them.

Heavies for life.

Shame that class 10's kick up the damage rates from all other classes by a multiplyer of 2. Class 1 to 2 wasn't THAT huge of a jump but 9 to 10 is insane.

For the looks, I'd have to go for the Hawk. The Eagle's little cousin. Nice and nippy, a little smaller so harder to hit, but surprisingly tough for a light fighter. Not many weapons though.
I was surprised by the Bounty Hunter Hammerhead V. Heavy FIghter. Not a bad looker, but couldn't take Lv. 10 weapons.
So for raw power I had to say the Titan, with Lv 10 shield of course. Can't get enough of that devastation . Headed straight for the 'unknown' jump hole off Planet Malta and played with the Nomads when I got that. Then head over to Liberty Space, and laugh as ten Navy Defenders pound you but don't make a dent. Then causually turn round and pop off two DIAMONDBACK rounds at each fighter. Hehehehe.
The Sabre wasn't as good as I thought it was. I heard it was the best ship in the game, in terms of statistics, but its not. Handles like a horse, and looks even worse.
And is it just me, or does the Rheinland Heavy Fighter 'feel' more powerful than the rest of them? And whats with that smog effect all the Rheinland ships and weapons have...

I have said it once and I'll say it again... They need lvl 10 light fighters. 2 lvl 10 wepons and 2 lvl 9 wepons.

If I had a nickel for every time someone told me that my idea of building a giant robotic parrot out of melted down coins was a bad idea, I would have one kick a$$ giant robotic parrot.

For Raw defensive power, Titan wins. For sheer destructive potential, Sabre wins. For everything else, I think Eagle is the best.

Titan has, simply put, the highest hull rating in the game. Also, it can hold 8 more nanos and batteries than the next closest contenders. All other factors ignored, it has the most defense.

Sabre has identical weapons setup as the other two, except for one thing: its turret fires forward. The turrets on both the Titan and Eagle are incapable of firing forward. Because of this, the Sabre can spew more damage than the other two can in the same amount of time.

Eagle is far better for maneuverability than the other two. Also, it's a smaller target by quite a bit. Because of this, I would give it the best overall award. Its turning ability means the other two VHF's are dead if they get into PVP with an eagle. Also, its smaller cross-section means it's harder to hit, giving it better survivability than the Sabre/Titan.

A further advantage of the Eagle is its purchase location. Freeport 9, a Zoner base, will probably ALWAYS be neutral with you. Malta and Vogtland (Sabre purchase locations) and Crete and Leon (Titan locations) will probably start out hostile, requiring you to destroy a decent amount of something to get the base's pirate owners neutral (Vogtland is Hessian, Malta is Outcast, Crete/Leon are Corsair).
