My Freelancer Experience

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

My Freelancer Experience

Well, I finished the game a few weeks back and I wanted to post some thoughts I have about Freelancer and some of my experiences.

1st: This game is great, there is plenty to do to keep me playing. As of now I've completed the SP, and have doing that diamond run from New Berlin to New Tokyo to build up. When that gets old I go exploring the systems to see what goes where, and who's got what to improve my ship. I haven't done any of the side missions yet.

2nd: The game can be done in SP with a freighter. The only fighter I've owned is the one I was given in the beginning. You can do the race with Hovis and win in a freighter. By changing / improving my combat tactics I am able to survive most hostile encounters. Right now I use the turret view and afterburners to blast the enemies that are anywhere near me rather than trying to engage them head on. Since the fighters have better maneuverability than my freighter its' better for me to keep moving in a straight line and fire away than trying to get on their six. I should add that I'm working on building up credits and trying to increase my reputation so I can buy one of those kick*** fighters to complete the rest of my exploration. B.T.W. I am currently using the Humpback.

3rd: I'm wanting to start using Mods but am hesitant for the fact the game still has alot that I haven't seen.

4th: I really haven't seen any reason for a patch, But I am very interested in an expansion. There are alot of things that Freelancer can continue with, ships, weaps, enemies, missions, goods, planets, systems, space enviroments ( nebulas' and minefields for example) and anything else folks may want.

Overall, Freelancer is a great game and I believe that I will be playing for quite some time and using mods that the community offers. Here is the link to my current F8 screen as of today. -KILSEK

Your not even trying to take this game serious are you?!?!?!?!

I agree, and I just have to say that I was shocked by how big it was. I mean, big as in distance.
I knew it was going to be very large, but it took me almost an hour to get from one side of the sector to the other on a particularly hazardous trade route. And I'm STILL finding new places to explore!
I didn't like the single player campaign very much. It was very good, an engrossing story line, very good action sequences, one of the best SP campaigns yet. But its the way that, despite the game supposedly being 'free', you end up getting forced into it. I was playing merely to open the new areas, advance my levels, etc, and suddenly found that I had no choice. There was no decline button!
Other than that, it's near-perfect. Bugless, and probably the most economical game engine on the planet, at least for most of the people I know. And I haven't even played multiplayer. I can't use online, my 56k modem actually crashes the connect screen :S. So when my local friends have themselves copies I'll be hooking up in a LAN game.

I think you hit the nail on the head here, Kilsek. I personally am really looking forward to an expansion to make an already great game even better
