Hello everyone. Anyone out there been able to return to the Alaska system after finishing the SP game? I've hunted through the all the surrounding systems, but still haven't found a jump hole. Appreciate any help.
...and I've circled the whole minefield looking for the passage you took in the SP campaign, but can't find it. Unless there's a super-secret jump hole that no-ones found yet (I've got friendly with all the terrorist/pirate factions so I can explore those undesirable regions in the vain hope of finding one), I can't see any other way of getting there than the mined-off jump gate in New York.
Its not about what's IN the Alaska system, whoever said there's nothing there, its about being ABLE to go there. I want to visit the place, note 'ha, thats where I wiped the floor with a Nomad fighter... and there's where I wiped the floor with a Nomad fighter, and there's where I srubbed a star with a Nomad fighter, and there's where I took a Nomad fighter, dismantled it and ate the pieces...'. Y'see? Its the principle.

The passage is simple to find. Basically, stay vertically level with the trade lanes and jumphole (everything is at approx the same height - stay around this level). Now, sight on the jumpgate. You know how they're tapered at one end (the end that opens up when you jump through)? Position yourself on that end at the outside edge of the minefield. You should see the hole near you (it's pretty big).
Lets see if I can explain myself a little bettwe with a diagram:
XXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXX
XXXX =>---------O
XXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXX
X's are mines, the => it the jumpgate (with the pointy end being the one you need to line up with). The -'s are an imaginary line between you and the Gate, which needs to pass all the way through the gate, spearing the pointy end, with you being the O.
Once you find the passage, you'll smack yourself in the forehead - it's not hard to find, nor is it particularly long (only 1-3 klicks...the open area with the Gate is pretty huge).

I know about the Jump Gate in the New York system. Thats how you get to Alaska in the SP game. But even if you get to the Jump Gate through the mine field, its locked. (I know, I used the God Mode Cheat to get through the mines)
What I'm looking for is a Jump Hole in any of the surrounding systems. Any leads on where a Jump Hole might be? Someone a few posts back said there was nothing there except a station (sorry I didn't get your name), but its just one those things. You gotta go there yourself. I am sure the explorer in all of you can appreciate that.
