How come Rogues attacked me when rep is white for them?

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

How come Rogues attacked me when rep is white for them?

Hi folks,

I just spent several hours in my SP game (past the story line) attacking Xenos until I got Rogues to be white. Then I killed another half-dozen Xenos for good measure I did this so that I could visit Rogue bases and buy there stuff. So next, I cruise to Montezuma. As I'm approaching Montezuma, it is showing in white (neutral). Just before I get there, suddenly I have red Hackers and Rogues attacking me, and Montezuma has gone red on me (!). I took the nearby jumphole to Cortex, hoping it would reset the redness, but it didn't... and I endured the peppering of a dozen Rogues and Hackers for a dozen minutes until they ran out of cruise missiles and I could get out of Cortez.

What gives?? Why did Rogues go red on me? I really want to be able to get into Rogue bases. Help??

TIA!! -- CAPT H

Even if you're neural with a faction, if in their presence you're fired on by someone with whom they're allied, the previously neutral faction will become--temporarily--hostile, in support of their friends.

In your case, you might want to try to become neutral with the other Rogue allies who frequent that system. Hackers, for example.

Or leave the area and come back, hoping that you won't be attacked by any Rogue allies before you can dock at the Rogue base. Good luck!

Your problem is that you are hostile with the Lane Hackers. The Liberty Rogues are allies of the Lane Hackers and thus are alerted to attack you regardless of reputation when your presence is detected. Your only chance to dock at the base is to sneak in when there are no Lane Hacker ships around. Which probably will rarely occur since the Rogues and Hackers are such good allies. You can try it though. Once you have confirmation from docking personnel after pressing F3 you will be guided in no matter if the station switches to red in the process. All you will need to do then is survive while in the docking process.

Is it possible to get blown up while docking (in the cinematic part of it)? I have been attacked in that stage before, but never destroyed. Just wondering, cuz that would really suck balls

To my knowledge not in the cinematic part of it.

thanks all, that explains it... for better and for worse!

A simple solution to this problem is to hit the docking key when you'restill about 7K from the base. Even if there will be Hackers nearby to base can't change their mind now and have to let you in. However once you're in, comes the hardest part... geting out with all that disruptor fire. I once loaded about 7 times until I got off from Mactan in a Dromedary without dying.

I didn't realize it would work from so far away, TjM... Dock commands can be issued about 9k away, although they won't say "you're good to dock" until 1 or 2k away. Or, with my luck, "Docking pattern is full... please wait while the entire Freelancer universe docks while you wait".

Thank the gods, I got it on my 4th try... managed to sneak in (coming down from Curacao to Montezuma) and the base went red just as the docking cinematic came up... let's just say the docking port was well lit, lol... but once I got in I plunked down 110k (or something) for Rogue allegiance, and presto magic, Rogues and Hackers and a bunch of others now worshipped me.

I was damn glad of that too because I'd already blown off hours I'd wanted to spend on something else, killing Xenos to get Rogues neutral... I was starting to get really frustrated to find that that wasn't nearly going to be enough. I so love hackers Especially the female ones... "You're new around here, aren't you?"
