Changing Weapons and Reputations

I apologise if these questions are asking the obvious, but hey, we can`t all be freelancer experts :-)

Firstly, if, for example, I have picked up a weapon from a ship I have previously destroyed, how do I install it on one of the pylons on my ship? I have been selling and then buying back. There must be something I`m missing.

Secondly, I have made it to mission 9, but keep getting my arse well and truly whupped, so I`ve decided to go back and do a bit of trading for a new ship, better weapons and so on to help me out. Problem is, my rep is not at all freindly in many of the systems I`ve visited, making trading difficult. How do I improve my rep?

For the installing of weaponry:
Go to an equipment dealer.
Next to the weapon you want to equip is a little sign.
Click on it. (you've got to have room to equip it)
Tadaa.

The reputation-question: Go look around in these forums...Lot's of tips.
