Armour and weapons opponents?

Armour and weapons opponents?

Hmmm ... I've started the same mission for about the 20th time, but I'm still getting blown up after 5 to 10 seconds.

On this site they all say you've to buy armour and weapons that "match" your opponent, but how can I get this information? How can I tell what sort of weapons and armour my opponent has?

If I look into the ship specs, there's something like armour: 9999 and weapons 9/9. It doesn't say wheither they're laser, ...

When you come up against them, target them and hit 'O' to scan them. You can see everything from their shields to weapons to cargo.

OK. Can you scan every ship in the game?

yes; everything from light fighters to Battleships (the ones in the campaign; not the stationary ones which act as bases) can be scanned. Only bases cannot be scanned.

Isn't that an intrusion of someones private life?

One more: Do fighters of the same class and clan always have the same weapons and armour throughout the game?

It could be considered an intrusion of privac; that's why when the police scan you for contraband, they tell you first. Pirates, however, will just scan you without saying anything. And if you've got something they want, you'd better drop it or be ready to fight for it. And no, fighter of the same class/faction will not always have the same equipment throughout the game.
