the best ive found so far in terms of time required, difficulty, and profit would be Cardamine (Montezuma Base in Cortez) ---> Manhatten, then Light Arms (trenton outpost orbiting manhatten) ----> montezuma. This does require you to be neutral with the pirates, though. With a full hold of each in my Dromedary (275 cargo units) i was scoring ~330000 credits a run.

I like the Roppongi (New Tokyo) to Ainu (Hokkaido) run myself. It makes like 265000 round trip and only takes 12 minutes.

When I was level 10 or so, and trying to earn money, i liked taking beryllium from Kensington Shipping Platform (New London System) to Pueblo Station (Colorado). i think the profit was around $1000 per unit. Not bad for early on.
