Replay SP with existing ship/rep?

Someone, either here or in the Mods forum mentioned that it was possible for a replay of the SP story line with, effectively, any ship.

Has anyone done this?

I'm thinking about using my Titan with the Nomad weps so I can concentrate on the story line not survival.
