Obviously, the alien name Nomads is a remnant of the original story: an alien race that wanders from star system to star system to loot and destroy. If I remember correctly, that was also mentioned in the original intro movie.

Nomad, as in "Nomadic"; meaning a group without a fixed home or settlement.

The Nomads in Freelancer are caretakers left over from an advanced civilization that has been long gone; they wandered for millenia until the humans came along making the Sirius sector their home. The Nomads seized this as an oppertunity to take over mankind, and so on and so forth.

So you see, the name "Nomad", is quite accurate in its meaning.

Um... not really. IIRC, the Nomads only existed in The system with the Dyson Sphere until that Rheinland expedition found them. They didn't "wander" anywhere.

In the original plot they "wandered" quite nonchalantly into the Solar System destroying the Sun while at it.

Near the end of game, Sinclaire says that they do not know how to pronounce the Nomads real name yet.

Yeah, the Nomads real name is unpronouncable but in Dom Kavashii (I hereby proclame Dom Kavashii is the official Dom Kavash language) it is close to Nomad so thats what they call them. Also, in response to whoever the Dom Kavash disapeared without a trace, there was no evidence of disease, war, natural disaster or anything, but hell mabye they left Sirius for a different part of their empire, it probably incompases more than the Sirius Sector. Also, about the question where is Sirius since the nebula at the botton makes no sense as that nebula doesn't exist between the star Sirius and us I bet its another left over from the original story, the original story probably was only set in the Sirius System in orbit of the star Sirius.

You know what? I just remember something. The reason they called them nomads was because they have the ability to move from body to body! I don't know how the hell I managed to forget that! *smacks forehead*

EDIT: Yeah, that's probably it, though I have no recollection of that. My memory sucks -_-
