hispania: wreck to small

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

hispania: wreck to small

ok i found the hispania and i found it to be to small to be a sleeper ship i find it has actually the size of shuttle not a sleeper ship

who agrees with me

Don't know many shuttles you can fly around inside of.

I saw the wreck, and thought it was a bit small too ... but then I figured that the wreckage is pretty dense over about a 5.5k area. I didn't fly too close to the main wreckage (or try to get inside it) cause I didn't see anything to loot so I left.

you have to realise that large chunks of teh ship have been blown away over time. I noticed that the whole front section was missing. Where do you think that debri field around it came from? My point is, that it probably WAS alot larger but got broken down over time.

You can still see the implied size of the thing, despite it being a bit broken up; and it should be larger than it is. But, why worry about this one problem of scale, when bases are far larger on the inside than they are on the outside, planets are more like the size of large asteroids compared to your ship, and the relative distances between the objects in a system defies realistic proportions.

Where is it?

Post Sat Apr 05, 2003 7:28 pm

* Hispania is In Omicron Alpha, close to planet Mallorca.

listen people
in the end of the intro you have a shutlle flying towards the liberty
(the shuttle ressembeles the liberty)
second the wreck is the main hull wich means those would have been how big the ship was in real life but this doesn't add up with the size of the liberty standing in the manhattan skyline
allso the debris field probaly comes from the systems tha couldn't be used anymore
i flew through the wreck and found there very little space

Just look at the Manhattan skyline, the Liberty is in plain view. It's actually no bigger than a small skyscraper. Consider also your ship moves at 200m/s with thrusters. The tallest skyscraper today goes no higher than 500m, so do the math. It's realy silly to complain about the scale of a minor object like the Hispania when planets are these dinky lil things you can fly around in a matter of seconds and nebulas and asteroid fields apparently take up 50%-100% of a solar system.

Ranpostgen
you go about 200 m with the afterburners
thats thuth
but this theory doest explain if you hover with your ship above the hispania you can see all the edges
i design evacuation ships as a hobby, and mine are 3 or 4 times bigger
but why do i complain about the hispania
i thought some good goodies would be on board

shoot on the hispania and it becomes hostile... funny thing

I'll have to see that ship again to see if you're correct. However, keep in mind when you're floating, that your distance to the ship matters a great deal. Also, I'm not trying to say the Hispania is 100% accurate, I'm merely saying it's a minor infraction compared to some of the other objects to the game, especially since few people probably even see the Hispania.

the scale of the game is definately un-realistic. But it IS a game. And the scale problem wasn't enough to bring down the overall quality of the game. After all, there are 40+ systems in the game; and if each one were so huge, it would really be worse than the way it is now. Imagine searching an asteroid field for that one wreck which contains your favorite lvl. ten weap; if the asteroid field were so big, it would take you hours to search just it. Now consider that there are at least 2 asteroid fields in each system, times 40+ systems...that means you're gonna be searching for a long time. Imagine traveling from system to system. Just getting to the jump gate would take a very long time. So my point is; this is not a space sim. A space sim is not "fun" to everyone. The game is just trying to be accessible to everyone. The scale is not such a major problem.

You've just said what I've been saying every five minutes since I came here yesterday?

Ugh... how do you get to Omikron?
