I always fly with the cl10 positron. But them Bounty hunter lasers tear into them pretty good. Have never researched to see if there would be a big enough difference against lasers to make a cl8 graviton better than a cl10 positron.

But most of the top end ships use weapons that don't fair well against positron (corsairs/hessians/outcasts)

I have both the CL8 graviton shield and the C10 positron shield; graviton, I use against Bounty Hunters on missions where I need cash and against Nomads (their guns are laser based). I put on the C10 positron when I go PvP hunting as most VHF players and upper class weapons are tachyon/particle based, and positron fares best against those.

On a side note, when using my CL8 graviton against Nomads, at level 32 at present, I have yet to use more than 3 batts. One hit will take you to about 50%, but it regens quickly, and with some skilled flying, using asteroids to block shots, and careful afterburner use, you're back to full in no time.

I think I remember seeing somewhere that a weapon that is good against a shield does 120% damage to the shield, and if it is bad against a shield it does 80% damage. Now, I don't know the individual weapon damage and shield capacity stats, but if you do it should be relatively easy to calculate whether or not the class 8 grav. is better than the class 10 pos. in a given situation.

The Nomad guns are not of a particular "type" (laser, photon, tachyon, neutron, etc.) In fact, none of the c10 guns has a specific type. This is easy to see by looking at the munitions entries for these weapons in the equipment .ini files. Therefore, it doesn't matter which kind of shield you use to counter these weapons, the damage will always be 100%, so just use the shield with the most capacity you can get.

So thats Why i end up dying every time i encounter hessians veterans it seems my lvl6 order anubis sheild isnt working very well against them.

When fighting Red Hessians in Omega-41 I found out that lvl 9 Barier molecular H.F. shield suits better agains them than lvl 10 Adv. Brigandine positron. Outside that space however the positron seems fine.
