What do you do with your torp?

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

What do you do with your torp?

Other than blasting it into the surface of the earth, I found out that shooting it while using afterburner will launch it at higher speed. (So , this is how you can aim torp at those gunboats)

Haven't tried shoving it into an open docking bay.

Have yet to hit a Titan with a torp

Nevertheless, I still find it useless.

Hopefully they'll come out with a nuclear device in later expansions. (the one that blows everything in sigth..)

I've found them useful for destroying weapon platforms, when launched atalmost point-blank range, and--under the right circumstances--for destroying fighter pilots who are dim enough to come straight at me with weapons blazing. Just have to be careful not to shoot your own torp, and hope the range is close enough that the enemy won't be able to, and get out of the blast radius yourself (I don't recall taking any damage from my own torps, but I'm pretty sure I have from close explosions of my own mines on neary enemy ships).

Thanks for the info about increased speed when afterburning; should have thought about that muyself.

Of course, the Sunslayers I'm using are pretty expensive, and unless you have money to (literally) burn they're rather wasteful unless you're assured of a hit. But they do a *lot* of damage.

My guess would be that they're much less useful in MP. So far I'm only in post-campaign SP.

nothing *g*

I found them useful in the campaign. It's just extra damage against the heavy ships.

Use the sunslayer torp launcher (11k hull per shot, thou 150k cost for launcher, 7k ea. torp) in the campaign.... very useful when destroying tekagi's weapons platforms and those elemtal battleships in rheinland.....suggest getting lotsa money.....havent tried getting it without cheats while still in campaign

There just useful in the sp mode to destroy some battleship and to make some people impressed into mp.

And just for a question, how many battleship did you destroy... Me 4

Long live to corsairs

without torps....4 battleships

and how the heck you can you buy sunslayer in sp?

not enough level to buy them.

He said he was cheating. Normally, you can't buy the Sunslayer until well past the storyline. By the way Balefire, it's actually impossible to shoot your own torpedo, your projectiles will always "veer" away from it after getting close.

Thanks very much for the information,Tasiin, I have to conclude that it was enemy fire that blew one up before it reached its intended target, then. That makes me feel--slightly--less foolish, since I had been convinced that I'd wasted an expensive torpedo by being too careless with my guns.

Is that that the case with one's own missiles and mines, as well? In harried dogfights, it's sometimes hard to know whose you're gunning down, but I've been going to a lot of trouble to avoid firing into the area where I've launched missiles. Forces one to do a lot more evasive maneuvering than if premature destruction of one's own munitions isn't a worry. It sounds as if I needn't have gone to the trouble, hmm?

I'd check instead of asking, but the only computer I have that's capable of playing FL is at home, and I only get home on weekends. Which is probably a good thing: if I could play on my work PC, I'd not get a lot of work done, I'm afraid. Of course, it also means that I don't get any sleep on weekends. So productivity probably suffers anyway, but only on Monday mornings. :-)

It's better to burn out than to fade away

I always use torps when making the initial "pass" at waves of fighters , they dont seek extremely well but they usually do hit one of the fighters , and usually i have taken their shields down by then too .
