Faction cheat?? (**POSSIBLE SPOILER**)

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Faction cheat?? (**POSSIBLE SPOILER**)

Well, I opened the "empathy.ini" file hoping that the so-called faction cheat was real. To my surprise this particular ".ini" file is all code with very little English to latch onto. I did not understand any of it. Someone in this forum said to get rid of all of the minus signs and that would make me neutral to everyone. I did not want to chance screwing up this file.

Question: Is there a faction cheat or just hype? How do you edit this INI file?
Regards,
Daddyo

Look in the editing forum, there is a sticky in it (can't think of the exact name) that tells you what you need to edit ini's. Good luck.

You can get the utility you need to unpack the ini files in the utility section here on this site.

Decompress the ini file and get rid of all the minus signs (or maybe just the ones you want if you know the faction code).

Note that this will not make you neutral to everyone, but merely making sure the stats go only in the positive direction.
One funny example of this is: if you can't dock with a particular hostile station, just shoot their fighters as they come. They will soon befriend you. (And if you can't buy a certain weapon cuz you're not "friendly" enough, well you guess it, shoot them some more! LOL)

This is one thing I never really wanted to do. If you make everyone friendly to you, what's the fun in the game? You never get attacked, you never have to fight, all the action is gone. I guess you could go kill Nomad's, but that's about it.
