SIMPLE SOLUTION:
Sorry for my bad english.
There's an unoffical way to avoid Rheiland ships problem, just hit with the hull of your ship against the hull of the Rheiland ships, it takes you about 10-15 min to destroy Rheilands ships in that way and they dont turn hostile to you.
Remember don't use your weapons only your hull.
This solution It works for me, and the mission doesn't fail.
Since your ship can regenerate shield power and your hull can be repair with nanobots, you can destroy the Rheiland ships in that way easily but i know there's a pain in the ass to do by the time to invest.
