In the SP storyline, I don't think rep. matters...

While I was in the SP storyline, I flew missions for the Pirate factions and no one else... Didn't seem to affect trade-lane travel at all.

Your rep basicaly gets reset at several points during the story, and at the end.

So if you work hard for your rep while in the story, it will probably only last until the next mission

Noticed this myself.

I and rerunning the SP missions...and was running missions for Bretonia Navy, and Police....

Had gotten them from Neutral to Friendly.....Then when the next mission started....I was back to neutral again....So the SP Storyline really does set the factions, at the beginning of each mission......

Although, you DO need to mess with the rep if you want cooler ships in SP. I got a defender to run in right now, and I completed the "race mission" in first place from beginning to end.
