convoy & jump gates

I've read posts on convoys & so started trying it myself. It's kind of fun to just follow trading ships but I've not been able to actually go through a jump gate while convoying.
Going through trade lanes is OK, but when the convoy go through a jump gate I always get the message "Convoy group lost" or something like that. Shouldn't I be able to jump system at the same time as the convoy?

You can't ever go through jump gates with NPCs. But you can go through with other players in MP. It's probably a bug or just something DA should've thought about before releasing the game.

Actually, you can - it's just not very reliable. In some cases, your ship will turn around just before jumping and do another approach to the jumpgate, before finally jumping. I've seen this happen with player ships too. I was once in a formation with 5 other people, and the two of them that were at the tail end of the formation reported that their ships spun around and did another approach before jumping.

The "Formation lost" warning is normal, you can't keep formation through a jumphole or jumpgate, even with other player ships.

I haven't checked if the AI ships you jump with are actually at the other end of the jumpgate when you come out, but it would be pretty cheap if they dissapeared into thin air.
