AI fault?

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

AI fault?

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, or whether it might even be my imagination, but I think I've found a way to kill AI more easily. The secret lies in not attacking the one that you've got targeted. Normally, I like to attack the one in my reticle, but I found that the one in your reticle knows it and wiggles a lot. On the other hand, the other ones like to fly out further in order to get a longer strafing run. I like to shoot them as the go out and wait for them to come in and "joust" with them a little. They always lose (unless there are a ton of enemy) and usually make little or no dents in your shields. I would think that the second a ship was attacked, it would break off its strafing run, but these AI are STUPID with a capital DUMB.

well now that u mention it, yes it does seem that way to me.

i did hear one say, may have been a random game engine product tho as soon as i got the spinning reticle, "hostile has me aquired!" seems lke i only heard it once tho.

Ya, I always hear them saying "got a hostile on my six" etc.. Curious when exactly it is when they say that... I would assume that it's either: when you actually are on their six (behind them), when you have them targeted, or like you said, maybe just when your targeting reticle is on them.. I haven't really looked into it too much, but I think the answer lies in that "6 o-clock" icon that flashes on the top of the screen once in awhile. Finding out when exactly that thing flashes, might answer your question... Maybe test it out with a freind in MP or something...
Another AI glitch that I've noticed is when you're trying to run away from a bunch of enemies, hit your afterburners, cut your engines, and turn around (so you're drifting backwards at afterburner speed looking at the enemies). I tried this once just to get a couple shots back while still keeping my distance, and I noticed they just sort of broke off pursuit and gave up.
I think some better AI programing is in order here... Maybe for the sequel.. hint hint..
