Help detroying Bounty Hunters in Magellan on Level 6

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Help detroying Bounty Hunters in Magellan on Level 6

Argh - I have attempted this about 20 times now and I get detroyed very quickly. I only have 3 shields left at this point and several nanobots (but they go fast). The Bounty Hunters just kick my a$$! I've found I can get missiles off to a few of them before the attack starts, but that's about it. Any suggestions???! It's driving me mad! Not fun anymore! Thanks
(Should I go back several levels and earn a ton of cash before I meet Juni in New York in order to buy bigger and better equipment? Any tips there?)

Level 6, but its Mission 4... sorry about any confusion there ;-)

ok, I guess I am the FNG (... new guy) here.
Now that I know I am on mission 4 (and not mission 6, even though I am on level 6), I have read a bunch of other posts and replies and now realize that my Rhino just ain't gonna cut it against these Bounty Hunters. I'll go back and earn some dough and get a heavy fighter from a battelship, I guess.

Ditch your missiles first thing. Use your afterburners as much as you can and don't be afraid to let the NPCs do the dirty work. Make sure all your guns have at least the same speed stats, otherwise your aiming will be all screwed up. If all else fails, run circles around the jumpgate hoping they follow you and let the AI pick them off.

edit: Ouch on the Rhino, definately not made for combat. Go for a patriot/dagger at least, I reccomend a Defender.

Don't let them finish the conversation, as soon as they start talking target one and start blasting, you can at least drop one before the others really start to react.

Thanks for the tips -- I decided to go back to just after Willard (mission 3) and head to Colorado to do some prospecting... collecting silver to sell in CA Minor so I can buy a real ship ;-) I'll have to do all of Mission 4 that I have already completed over again, but maybe I will be able to complete it this time!

Yeah I got stuck in the same place in a rhino, I also had to go back a mission so I could get a real ship for the mission... Never flew a freighter again after that...
