STUCK Level 7--->8 defend Bedford

OK it's prolly just lack of skillZ on my part but... Join Juni above Manhatten, use up all my shield batteries just in that skirmish (played thru about 10-12 times just to make it out alive) then off to Bedford Station....when I get kicked out and have to defend the station (with 0 shield batteries) I am constantly dying REAL fast, sometimes in the first volley, usually within 15-20 seconds. Heavy Fighter with Class2 shield & decent weps, the weps aren't the problem as I can deal out good damage fast. Wasn't able to find a better HF shield in visiting about 12-15 locations during trade runs before this battle. Also, this is a replay of the game from beginning, got stuck at same location last time, thot maybe I wasn't equipped right so made sure I had lots of $ and decent equipment before I got to this stage.

Like I say, prolly just me but any hints here??

Don't even try to engage the LSF fighters, there are just too many of them... Just fly around rather randomly and unpredictable so you don't get hit. Shrot bursts from the afterburners are very useful too (even a vital skill IMO). Once the trade lane is no longer blocked, try to get there and when you get really close, dock. You will take some shielding damage, but shields will rechagre while you are in the trade lane... At WestPoint, just head straight for the other trade lane, that should not be a problem. At Bedford, same thing, just fly around randomly until Juni gives you a mission waypoint, and then get out of there...

exactly... if you can't win don't fight... just try to make it out alive... also while heading forthe trade lanes hit the (H) button and (space bar) to go to turret view and swivvle around.. that way when ur attacked you can go directly to the tradelane and fire at the people on your 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,and 12, oclock

yeah i got past that really hard battle by flying around in cruise mode (dont go too far or u fail) and avoid enemy fire

but once u get to bedford station u have to fight

You don't have to... Just dodge all fire, until the station blows up. After it has blown up, the Navy ships well temporarily turn neutral, demanding you give up. You naturally refuse, and Juni gives you the waypoint to the jumphole. Get out of there as quickly as possible, you don't have hopes of surviving vs a large group of fighters and 3 cruisers...

woah i didnt know that, i fought it out
later in the same mission its kinda fun taking out those crusiers wit good old tubby(tobias) as ur wingman cuz they are soo slow and if up position ur ship rite then u just fly along wit dem shooting till they blow up reciving minmal return fire

Learn the beauty that is "TAB"

Defender, lvl 2 shields, 2 magma hammers and 2 justice mk III's and a stunpulse turret.

Waiting for the cruiser to take down the battleship outside manhattan I took down 5-6 navy ships without using any nanos. At bedford I took down atleast 3 before the cruiser finished off the station, and I had to use my nanos once. In Magellan I took down atleast 2 or 3 bounties before the lane hackers showed up to assist.

Use tab to help you dodge and weave wildly, all the while keeping an eye on your target. Wait until he is making a run at you then turn as he gets real close, and hopefully you should end up right behind him. That is when you open fire, making sure to boost when he does so he wont get away from you.

Only fire when you are confident you will hit, so you can keep up a good bit of fire while chasing his tail up close. Basically the idea is that your target keeps running away, leading you away from his wingmen as you pummel him. Your target will also turn a lot, naturally causing you to dodge with him.

I tend to get hit more inbetween targets rather than when I am actually following one up close. It also allows you to use high drain weapons because you dont spend too much time firing wildly

Yep, duck and dodge, but still have to dish out some damage. Keep your distance from any larger ships they bring in, although when escaping from liberty I did manage to drag down one of their heavy cruisers, hehehehehe, Surprised me when it chalked it up as a battle ship kill in my tally. You will get the hang of the big dogfights, just takes some practice, and remember most cap ships have big blind spots, and make good incomming fire shields.
